I want to check the viability of putting a Tesla p4 card in my Poweredge C2100 server. This card seems to fit my needs. I've been doing Cinema 4D rendering on this server and, although CPU rendered, textures are still held in GPU memory. With no video card a good 4-8GB of system memory is wasted just on textures. This one is also sufficiently powerful for if I ever want to do video upscaling. Found one on sale for $200, seems like a good deal since it's basically a GTX 1080. Issue is, video cards seem to be finnicky in this server. Don't have any server accelerators on hand but I did pop in a Firepro and it did recognize in Windows but did not output any video in the BIOS. (I assume this is because the server expects a card with no display outputs.) It said drivers for this card are different than the POSTed display adapter in Device Manager, I assume if I just install the right drivers the card would work fine? (Didn't have time to test for myself unfortunately.) Same thing happened with Quadro k620 card. I just want to be 100% sure this card will work as intended if I install the drivers before I spend a decent amount on it.
