I am pleased to see that TPU do not have a No Thanks button included.

No Thanks is a derogatory facility which serves no purpose but to promote agitation and confrontation. If one does not like a post, there is no need to say "No Thanks, your post is useless", just ignore it.

I find No Thanks and its worded back-up offensive, because displeasure is simply an opinion and opinions of like or dislike are proportional to the number of people on Planet Earth. Everybody has one and in terms of a discussion Forum a No Thanks is also proportional to the ability of a reader to understand fully what they are reading. If one tells another person that what they say is useless in normal life, then confrontation and trouble can be guaranteed.

Thanks is great. Everybody likes to be thanked.
Always bear in mind that NOTHING is useless, everything serves a purpose, albeit a negative one. No Thanks left at that is OK, but the definition given to it is highly provocative.

Well all you lot of useless responders - NO THANKS.

It seems impossible to say anything on this Forum without getting a barrage of irresponsible comments like yours ? Are you not capable of reading anything seriously without resorting to offensive remarks ? If not, you have my sincere condolences.

I think maybe people just dont like your tone and dogmatic tendencies. :)
Whether you mean to or not, every word you say to these people sounds condecending.

I have just explained what is wrong with it in adequate detail. No Thanks is also a pranksters dream, where they take a dislike to some poster, then put a No Thanks against every post that unfortunate poster makes.

Your comment emphasises precisely why I posted this subject in the first place.

Bald Eagle I was just making a silly comment, had nothing to do with not agreeing with you, I do agree with you in fact, it's nice to stay positive.

Well all you lot of useless responders - NO THANKS.

Having trawled through many other tech forums it is exceptionally naive to believe any single persons post will not attract the ire of another user. I've been noticing in quite a few of your posts you are exceptionally quick to condemn or worse, be rude with regards to other peoples comments.

The unfortunate consequence of an open adult forum is that people may post replies that you do not like or will find hurtful, insincere or just completely hostile. A "No Thanks" button can be used for that purpose.

There is also the unfortunate aspect that not all users are overtly friendly and yes, a "No Thanks" button would get a virtual beating from some folk.

But a word to the wise - we are all capable of great injustice and we can all make ignorant posts - god knows I have. Had my infractions too

If you wish to take exception to my point about you being rude occasionally, I must quote you from some previous posts:

I thought this was a knowledgeable Forum. Obviously my optimism was premature. I am quiet disappointed.

If a thread is subject to a date expiry, then for God's sake institute an automatic CLOSED lock. Is that too much to ask ?
When I reply to a thread, I do not give a fig about the date it was raised, I do not even look at it or the last reply date, if it is open, I reply to it. Then what do I get ? Some panel saying I have wasted my time.
Please, come into the modern age and close threads which you consider too old to reply to. Not a lot to ask is it ?

AND don't use the word "Troll" in connection with a scientific discussion. Nobody "trolls" in scientific matters, it is essentially a teenage occupation. You appear to be the kind of pupil who would call the Lecturer a Troll, simply because you could not understand a word he said.

Now I can make very bad judgement calls and I am happy to regard myself as utterly fallible and most definitely imperfect but you have created a few threads or become involved in quite a few and you often resort to childish tantrums whilst trying to keep up an appearance of a highly educated and somehow aloof individual.

This is not an attack on you but it is an attack on your forum posting style. If you are going to post in an open forum you must accept you will get some very irrelevant replies and some will be borderline rude. A thick skin is required.

Just try to ease off a little on the unintentional insults (as above) and maybe understand the forum is home to thousands of individuals with thousands of personalities and it is merely statistical probability that someone somewhere will rub you up the wrong way.

Please take this as friendly advice, it is not meant as an insult.

+1: I would give you more than just +1 if I could. :)

As much as the TPU staff enjoys hearing you tell them how awesome TPU is, I don't think we need to go to such granularity as to posting about every single thing TPU does awesome.

RCoon is right, your tone is condescending, weather or not you're intending it to be, that's how you're coming off.

It seems impossible to say anything on this Forum without getting a barrage of irresponsible comments like yours ? Are you not capable of reading anything seriously without resorting to offensive remarks ? If not, you have my sincere condolences.

Only when you're on your high horse and talk down to us. Making statements like this only screams arrogance.

I don't know what your goal was when you started this thread, but I don't think it had the impact you wanted it to and if it did, I think a moderator needs to step in.

I am closing this thread, whilst I agree with much that has been said, it is not going to turn into an attack on the Op thread, I see little point in starting a thread about something that does not exisit (a "no thanks" button) however you have made your points regarding the Op and his posting style..... enough.
