I just ordered this a GPU AIO from an online shop. (aliexpress clone) The shop I ordered from can change the block to a 3080 Ventus but it will take roughly 2 weeks. It is also a lot cheaper costing less than $200 and it comes with a backplate. One good thing is the radiator also has the pump so I can squeeze this and bottom mount it in my NR200

I'm thinking this is a good strating point for me before going full custom loop.

Well guys, it's been a while since I've looked in this thread but I can see all the excitement about the temps, mining and the like, so I thought I'd ask something about, sit down though please.... Gaming!!

I hear all about the spikes with the cards and the temps on the memory (this MSI card is terrible and I monitor every time it's turned on, desktop, mining, gaming or anything just to be safe) but what I was wondering about and I'm pretty sure that someone or a few of you in here, have been testing your cards with lower power limits for gaming and the FPS differences have been between 5 to 10 FPS if I recall correctly?? I was just wondering peoples mileage with it... How do games fair for you all?? Well for those that game

For my EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 it games flawlessly and the vram temp is even pretty low. It can even mine and stay cool on a hot day for brief spurts of a few hours with no real hard temp spikes, probably could go longer but I am only screensaver mining with my CMS crypto screensaver package.

That's a 3070 though, and it uses plain GDDR6, not GDDR6X

I'm at 1550 for max efficiency, and notice no change at all in the games i play at 1440p 165hz
clock speed curve is faaaar better than a power slider limit

I did not change the power limit of my 3080 Ventus as it isnt efficient that way. When you lower the powdr limit it just lowers the freq/volt curve. What happens is the gpu would still try to boost until it reaches the next limit which would be temps. It will cycle lowering temps and clocks then power spiking at the same time.

What I did is find the lowest voltage for an acceptable frequency and flatten the curve from there in afterburner. Mine does 1830mhz @818mv and it stays there no power/wattage spikes. I may be losing 3-5 fps during gaming but it stays around 60c.

I got two 3080's. A dell RTX 3080 and a MSI Ventus 3X.

The Dell one is terrible. VRAM temps are around 104C average when mining. the MSI Ventus is at 100C when mining which isn't too bad.

Temps are high but below the 110C. The dell one is bothering me the most though. But I dont want to open it and void the warranty. Plus I will eventually be putting that in my main system (MSI Trident PC) and game with that. When gaming, it gets to about 103C for the Dell 3080. I know people say to open it up, put thermal paste around where the vram plate is. But it has the manufacturer stickers on there and I am not sure what the laws are in Calgary regarding Warranty with these. If it doesn't void warranty, then I will modify it.

The only 'demanding' title I play is Star Citizen. With that one the 3090 and mobile 3070 both perform the same. I even undervolted the 3070 to 0.7V, so it runs at a relaxed 54°C when gaming.

Besides that I can tell you that in Diablo 2 (the original with addon, 800x600) I get the same 25fps with and without undervolting / downclocking the cards.

I followed this guys video (ill post it below) to help reduce my Dell RTX 3080 GPU vram temp. I mentioned earlier it in mining and gaming getting upwards to 106C. This is with 100% Fan speed.

After applying the thermal paste (Noctua NT-H1. I applied more than he put in by mistake, oh well, non conductive), I am now seeing memory temps fluctuate at 88 - 90C on the vram with fan speeds at 57%.

I recommend this modification to anyway who has heat issues on their Dell RTX 3080's

Now, I am awaiting on my GLIED Thermal pads to do the fix on my MSI Ventus 3X RTX 3080.

Epic. Can I see the MSI AB Curve? I thought I was doing great on-air loading at sub 60 degrees 99.9% of the time, even at ~300w loads, but damn that is awesome. Gotta love winter aye.

Seems like some thermal putty on top of the VRAM really help too, 56C Tjunction temp is way too good.

after watching the video he never shows what it is, and you gotta pay to get on his discord to find out??

Mine slooooooowly heats up and eventually heat soaks the rads, but thats cause i've also got the fans at slow ass speeds in a restrictive case

just gaming loads it never heats up and its glorioooous.

He is probably using this thermal putty, at 10W/mK that's a little better than standard thermal pads, though the thermal putty also increase the surface area when it surround the VRAM module, leading to better thermal transfer.

Ampere cards with good cooling just run so cold already, it's really blown me away. I'm all about chasing those last 10ths, but I'm not going to throw disproportionate money at it to gain them.

Not sure I said it here (posted on reddit) but one extra very small piece of thermal pad where there was none at stock on my TUF 3080 lowered VRAM temps by 10-14c, epic result for such a small amount more pad. Just remove the sticker and pop a pad there, same size and thickness to the one symmetrically to the left of the GPU.
