Just in case you guys missed it. The drive uses SLC flash but the price is only around 2x that of the MLC drives we have now. They are advertised in Hong Kong already for 2K HKD, around 258 Dollars for the 120GB model. You really can't beat it.

That's closer to 3 times the current 120-128GB prices, but still a significant price reduction from the era of Intel's E-series SSDs.

My RevoDrive3 X2 480 is faster and so is my RD3 X2 MaxIOPS...but they cost how much exactly?

Err what's your point? The Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR120GB 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) is much cheaper than all of them... The title states, "The fastest consumer SSD in the world" not the cheapest or most expensive... :banghead: Plus, read my fine print.. I was joking... but in all seriousness the title is miss leading.. :toast: Don't worry.. I forgive you! :toast:

EDIT: I wanted your RD3 X2 MaxIOPS.. but they weren't out yet... hehehe but i'm happy with my rd3 x2 240gb

Yeah, I wasn't thinking about the PCIe cards when I made the post.

No problem dude! I was just joking around anyway. I just checked and oddly enough our PCIe cards are classed in a Prosumer space? Never heard of Prosumer.. hehehe So now we have consumer and prosumer products? lol Or at least that's what Newegg has it classed as.. :toast:

Force GTs in RAID-0 might not be as fast but they are a contender. :)
Eats up smaller block sizes, that is for sure.

Prosumer has been around for a long time. We used to call them A/V rated back in the platter drive days. They are still upper end consumer or enthusiast grade...at least that is how I explain it.

It's a nice drive for a low end server, but most would still be better served getting a 240-256GB MLC SSD.

I have it in my SATA III notebook now and it's fast as ****. You can feel the performance increase with this drive coming from a 480GB MLC. It's all about the access times and the 4K and 8K reads and writes.

Yes, this. I built up a halfway decent Server 2008R2 rig (it's somewhere in this forum) and I'm using a 240GB Agility 3 as the Intel Z77 RST acceleration drive for the VHD-storage RAID1 array. It's amazing how much it helps the performance of my virtual machines, and I bought it for CHEAP. Using it for accelerating the separate OS+apps RAID1 array was mostly meaningless, as the box remains up all the time.

And I still have ~160GB of it available for general use; even better :)

I'm not sure why you say that; I have eight of those drives in various machines throughout my house. I have one that currently has ~45gb of free space left, and it performs exactly as the others do.

In other words: do not spread FUD.

Sounds good. Thanks for the link. Now I'm wondering if I should trade my 520 Cherryville in so I can load Windows even faster...lol.
Christ sakes, this one loads faster than I can type.
I think I'll be spending my money on gpus, not SSDs.

Over provisioning lets the controller intelligently choose which blocks to use. If you only have so many blocks available to be written to, those will get written to more than any others. It lets the SSD balance the writes across more of the SSD so certain blocks don't die faster than others. It's a longevity thing, not a performance thing. On another note, it's not fud.
