At $109 it isn't really worth it, HD4850's can be had for less. And that cooler is butt ugly... I hope HIS releases their IceQ version quickly.

As I said on another forum, the cooler makes me want to shoot myself in the face.

It's an obvious last minute cost-cutting money-grab, as you can still see the outline of the far superior original dual-slot reference cooler on the PCB print.

Prices will come down though this is a launch price, more importantly itll bring the 9600GT, 9800GT and 250GTS from nvidia, and the HD4830, 4600 from ati in price :rolleyes:

I bet with a decent cooler you can get 900-950mhz out of it, which would destroy any 4850. My poor 4850s can't go over 685...

if your 4850's can't get over 685mhz your doing something wrong

my old 4850 could get to 800 with no volt mods, lol so could my old HD3850

its a nice card, but I would rather have an HD4830 and try to unlock it to 800SP since I know sapphires 4830 640/800 are identical.

I think not only is the HD 4830 heading out, so is the HD 4850. The HD 4770 uses half the power, runs cooler and more quietly and is only 5-7% slower. With HD 4870 512MB prices dropping to the $150 point the HD 4850 is kind of a third wheel (and Nvidia has nothing to compete against it with - unless they seriously discount the GTS 250).

My old 3870 could do 860 easily without any volt-mods. You are right, there is something definitely wrong with my HIS iceq4s

Even when I increase voltage to 1.158(highest possible I think with a bios-mod) by a bios mod they won't clock more than 685. Maybe because they are crossfired I dunno... They have non-reference pcbs so pencil mod is out of question too.

XFX has one coming out. Should be pretty sweet. It's not overclocked, but it has all that memory. Not sure how much it will help with the 128-bit interface though
