And guess what, its not quake 3 or unreal tournament! It was a game made by SCI, the same developers as carmageddon. The game was called XS. I have it somewhere at home, i think it was made in 97 or so. Lol it was lots of fun at the time. Has anyone else ever heard of this game or am i the only one?

I remember playing some deathmatches over IPX with the original DOOM in 1993/94. So this would actually make DOOM the first.

Not sure what the OP is trying to LIMIT the discussion to, Wolfenstein 1992 and Doom (1993) were earlier FPS. Doom had "deathmatches".

If you are talking about PLAYER vs. PLAYER then Battlezone was the first FPS, albeit in a tank, and was 1980. About the same time was Sniper! and 3D monster maze for the ZX81 which were FPS but were NOT player vs. player.

The first single player deathmatch game ever made? This needs to be reworded, first off single player and deathmatch doesn't really work together in a sentence. Though no matter how ya word it, XS doesn't apply to either. Pong came first. DooM introducted player connectivity and coined the term deathmatch.

but no, wolf was not deathmatch style single player against bots. Ill look at marathon but i have honestly never heard of it
