GTX 580 for me. I've just started a new job, so I'll have money and I feel like a foray into the ultra high-end for a change. I've only used budget and mainstream GPUs up to now.

I've just had the misfortune of having driver conflicts or something when ever I've used an nvidia card.

Random crashes, display driver restarts, or dodgy things like not out putting video until I've switched the machine on twice.

Only had the 3 nv pci-e cards mind you.

Also I don't like the control panel, just a preference thing. Lots of options, but none of the ones i'm interested in XD

I will tell you I have the same problem. It is because AMD/ATi is dodgy with its uninstall driver software packs. I find ATi processes and services still running when I thought everything was uninstalled. I even used driver cleaner apps and some ATi services were still chugging away. I had to go find the processes in system32 and delete them after disabling them. Then I had no stability issues. I switch cards in my rigs frequently. When switching rigs out to AMD cards the Nvidia uninstalls remove all components for me and I don't have to hunt them down. Thanks AMD, for letting it fuck up on those trying to switch camps.

Voted "not sure". Too many cards are being developed right now. I'm happy with my HD 5770, even though I'd have to work very hard to get a new pc, I will probably skip the HD6k gen and probably the HD7k gen, also the GF5xx and GF6xx. HD8k/GF7xx here I go!

Definitely the GTX 580 if prices ease. At the moment, the 580 looks a bit pricey for the performance. If prices don't ease, then I'll pluck a GTX 460.

I'd like Wiz to do an "extra" on his review... he often does an "overclock" benchmark, but what about an "underclock"? Is that thing going to be silent and low power if underclocked to 460 memory/core? Would be interesting to see performance/watt compared with 460 to figure out how optimised the redesign of the GF104 is.

I think you are the only person in my 11 months of being on a forum that has ever said they hate single card setups

i can see the value in a multi GPU setup. cheap way top improve performance. Here in Australia i could pick up another 5850 for $249 bang done sorted. But at my res 1920x1080 a single card setup just makes more sense. This is why i think i am goping to wait until the perf figures for the 6970 and GTX580 land before i make a move on upgrading

I'm planning on keeping my 5850 as long as I can. The amount of games I play is very little these days, and it's a cool, solid, reliable card that should last me years.

GTX 580 is out however there is no information about a GTX 570 (from what I've seen). Now it's the 6900 series turn. I hope we get to see some results soon.

I'm going Crossfire 6950's and overclock them to roughly around 6970 performance. I think that the 6950 cards will have better thermal specifications and lower power consumption. Even if I choose 6970's over 6950's, the fantastic performance will be limited by my AMD CPU. Because of overall cost effectiveness, I will invest in a pair of 6950's.

Personally, I would wait until the 6900 series launch before making a definitive decision so you can see all the numbers.

I'd love to have a GTX 580, but I vowed after plunking down $550 for my 8800 GTX I would never spend that kind of cash on a video card again (never mind I used it for over 3 1/2 years).

same scenario here, while my cpu/mem/mobo may be old, they're keeping up with current games fine. So the next time I upgrade it'll likely be a whole rig swapout.

ill probably get a gtx580 but first ill need a new psu or not? dunno. my psu is really good for a coolermaster (cause you (in general) always say that CM has bad psu's)
