I read and watched much about the de lidding, and most seem content to paste with their favorite cpu cooler paste, grease...

My question is would it be preferable to re lid my 4760k using a more permanent liquid metal type paste? Im not going for any world records, just a nice stable oc..

is the a grease or a liquid metal? Im looking at a non permanent in the TX-4 for the water block cpu... not sure on the lid though.. thanks for the suggestion...

i just read a review of pro vs ultra..
both look good..
what are my chances of getting a "good" 4760k.. its in its box un installed awaiting memory and ps..?

have you seen this?
instead of a liquid they formed it into a pad.. same manufacturer
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5...etalPad_Thermal_Interface_CPU_Pad_501249.html
must be new, there is only forum chatter aboutthis "pad" version .. if it works it solves the " I cannot use this as it hard to apply" issue...
thanks again

Dont use the pad, it works just as well as regular thermal grease with no added benefits, also if your going the liquid metal route you might as well go for the pro, not ultra they're both going to be difficult to spread but for the performance your better off with pro.

as for the chances of getting a good cpu, its all down to the silicon lottery, you never know weather your going to get a winner or not, there is just no telling.

That pad looked interesting to me. I don't get why people say its no good. Is it too thick?

here is hoping.. so far i been super lucky.. about half off memory and more than half on mobo
Im going with either ultra or pro if I have too de lid, just for the lid... and tx 4 for the water block to cpu... the thought of getting a stuck permanently on water block scares the pooop out of me..

Its not permanent. Just needs a little sanding.

I'm pretty sure that pad is pretty good. It kinda melts into a liquid before re-solidifying.

ok, all the parts save the PS are here, it should be here Saturday...
Im going to test the system build at stock.. whats a hot chip and whats a good chip test result?
obviously over 85 is a de lid candidate, but where would I draw the line for not de lidding my new chip? a stress test putting it in the 70 c range ?
