I think it will be the new trend, starting with Asus now proposing a custom graphics card on Assassins Creed Origins.

Today I've seen that Nvidia has also put her up for a Titan XP inspired by star wars with a totally new and custom cooler.

See the link :

I KNOW IS NOT A NEW THING.

But all this makes the market made of unique and varied graphics cards.

Of course it is indicated to those who care about the aesthetic factor

The aesthetic factor is predominating in today's hardware.

What do you think ?

"Collectors Edition" of items that become obsolete are so funny. Collectors Edition is kinda meant for things that may be collectable, but still have a certain functionality no matter the age. This will just be a paper weight 10 years down the time road.

It's a bit different with Vega 64 Limited Edition. It's a regular card with more refined looks, available from day 1. Not something released at the end of the life cycle. Which Titan Xp kinda is...

I have to agree.
I purchased one of the GTX560 Duke Nukem cards when they first came out. nothing really special about the card but came with a ton of other items. Book, game, stickers, etc... Hell, the game has never even been opened or activated.

Worthless as a collector item. I haven't seen one for sale in ages and don't imagine it's worth much today. Still a cool package and items but just to someone looking for that specific card.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Wiz has a poll and thread on this already, no?

Anyway... dont like it. But there is always a market for it.

any theme dedication is a poor decision, unless only in a very limited quantity. a GPU (like any product) is targeting a given group right out of the gate. With a Gpu, its the enthusiast market most often. Then , you have brand dedicated buyers (aka fanboys) who more often than not, will buy a specific brand due to a bias (legitimate or not). Then, choosing to put a theme on a product from the factory, your further narrowing your consumer base (from anyone who doesnt like that theme or doesnt want it on their gpu ,but would otherwise purchase it), and from a business prospective, it can never be smart to narrow your potential buyer base, unless ofc, you produce only a limited quantity of said item, and are confident that they will be purchased, or the revenue generated from the advertising deal, will make up for potential losses.

im sure that any possible lost revenue willbe made up by the advertising revenue generated that this theme dedication will bring in, so im certain this will be a "win win" situation for the makers of these cards, as long as the cards sell, or they sell enough to reach a point where the revenue from ad's offsets the remaining lost capital.

but this isnt an opinion, and its rather obvious. Anyone with an ounceof business sense will know this very basic fact of sales.

I weep more for Star Wars. Nvidia is fine. Rogue One was badass, but everything else new is embarrassing.

I met with the NVidia marketing team when they took me out for dinner on my birthday, oh about a decade ago..(X800 days, and it wasn't just me, but a group of 5-6 of local PC users along with the NV marketing team, who was in town for a LAN event. I didn't even go to the LAN, and I have no idea how they got my info to invite me. :p) I asked them for this then, and for a specific driver included with the cards for the games that they are promoting with the card. I say it's about fucking time. This isn't even as in-depth and I would like to see things be, honestly.

Oh come on how can you not like Fin. Hes like this series Jar jar.

None of the new characters made an impression except Ray and they just pretty much compacted her journey with the force like it was an On/Off switch.

Disney is on a butchering streak or just wants to appeal to the younger merchandise driven crowed with little to no character development. Just like Thor Ragnarok.

They actually make me appreciate the prequels more. For all of their faults, Lucas never repeated himself. He expanded things, even while milking the franchise.

Well as for the Titan Xp editions, if it wasn't such a pointless card in itself, I really would have gone for this design. Its very nicely done.

Most of this LED and aesthetics stuff is very much hit or miss, some of it is great, and some of it is just a warped mix of shapes stuck onto a pcb.

Well I would hardly call it the rise since they been around for a long time since the old ATI cards.
A few years ago you even had this little gem:

i like themed PC hardware, must be better if gaming oriented, like EVGA Fallout one, i would love yo see a orange GTX XX80ti vidro card, or also mid high end ones, example GTX "1070 Half-life3, GTX 1080 GhostRecoon" something like that for example!

Regards,

Putting a sticker of the game on it plus bundling the game with the card is fine. But putting some ridiculous LED, fancy shroud and put some 'theme' surrounding it with no extras whatsoever and charge extra for it is not.

There's no extra charge involved, the cards go for the same price as the normal Titan Xp's, it's just a very limited run I presume.
