Out of curiosity, what case do you have that supports a 560mm rad? :) And enjoy the new cooling!

I like Thermaltake cases, my favorite case manufacturer, sadly had to give my Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 to the wife since I wanted a full loop for the 6800XT, and I would have had to do a lot of hard modding to that case to make it fully water friendly, but still love it

I am not impressed with the build quality but the case is functional.

Speaking of which, I'm keen to see how your overclocking sessions and performance figures go as I may get a Liquid Devil Ultimate. Have you received your new PSU yet and ran some tests?
I got a new supply Be quiet Dark Power Pro 12 Platinum.

I did not do any further tests though or anything special with my computer since 10 days. :(
The last weeks were difficult because of COVID affecting family members back at my home in India.
I don't have the mode and energy to do much with the computer as my thoughts are somewhere else at the moment. :(
Hopefully all will go well over there.
The situation is not easy as you might have heard from the media.

Thanks a lot for well wishes. Me and my wife and children in Germany are fine but multiple relatives are at hospital back in India.

The top spot with 23338 Time Spy score belongs to the owner of a 6900XTU Liquid Devil Ultimate. :D
That is an amazing score. The owner L!ME has changed his thermal paste with Liquid metal.

Don't tell me about liquid metal, I am soooo tempted to do that for my 6800XT, still have some Coollaboratory Liquid Pro at hand :D

It is very tempting indeed.
I also still have some Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut, :D but after my last card failing and need to send it back I will be careful not to mode it in an irreversible way.
With LM one need to use some protection paint to isolate the other components from short circuit.
I am not sure how easy it is to remove the paint if one need to send the card back.

I always used some other non conductive thermal paste as insulation, basically covered the circuitry close to it in mostly Arctic MX2 which I have like 4 tubes, its easy to remove, does not flow away, and I never had one incident, liquid metaled 3 CPUs and 4 GPUs, never had one issue with this method, but its not as safe as something like clear nail polish for example, though if done right, as effective in protecting circuitry :)

And since my GPU block is nickel plated, liquid metal should be fine, I have to move all components to a new case anyway, so I am reasonably sure my 6800XT will receive the blessing of metal

Since using liquid metal on my Nitro+, I noticed that my core temp has barely moved past 50 degrees Celsius under load. It mostly stays at 44-45. My hot spot temp used to go past 70 when running Fire Strike, but now it only maxes out in the mid-60s. My ambient temp is pretty high at 37 degrees Celsius (very hot here).

Many people seem to frown at the thought of using LM on a GPU given the risks. I think with a little bit of common sense, you should be fine.

Did you do anything to protect the areas around the die itself, or just being very cautious in the application of the LM?

Problem for me is, my Nitro+ is a local set with warranty given by the local distributer (hence, I'd paid more than the XFX MERC319 RX 6900 XT from Amazon I'd wanted to get), any tampering with the warranty stickers/seal would automatically void the warranty (which isn't covered by Sapphire, it's covered thru the local distributer, so if they decide that the seals have been tampered with, warranty's null and void).

IF I had gotten, say, the MERC 319 RX 6900 XT as I'd intended from Amazon, and it's covered with a US warranty, I'd not mind trying what you'd done....

I used nail polish around the GPU die (applied 3x) and covered the entire area with Kapton tape. I also applied just enough liquid metal on the die and GPU block so it doesn't flow into the other parts. The Nitro+ was vertically installed.

I thought there's a US law that bars distributors/manufacturers from voiding warranty just because the card was opened? About the stickers, I guess you can always claim that they weren't there in the first place. :D

Problem is, I ain't in the US of A. I'm somewhere in the deep dark heart of Asia. That's why I'd said IF I had gotten the XFX 319 RX 6900 XT from Amazon (USA), I'd not mind trying out LM as I know US sets have more laxed warranty coverage.

After few weeks of ownership I finally tweaked the card to what seems a stable and good enough balance between clocks/temps/power. I left the card pretty much within stock 2300-2400 range at 1075 consuming around 200w with jumps to 220 highest. Think I’m not gonna bother further. Raw power is good.

what I absolutely hate though is how amd drivers work around vsync/vrr/fps limiting. 2 examples:
1) fallout 4 gets capped to 48 fps or lower (refresh rate divided by 3) no matter which settings I set in driver and I have to remove vsync altogether within .ini. But then it’s a problem of fps limiter, because DRTC can’t be set per game and Chill doesn’t work properly for hacking/lockpicking.
2) hitman 3 caps at 48 too (so lowest freesync border) if I choose 50% vsync (game runs at too high fps I don’t need it to).

on nvidia side I could choose per game whether game dictates vsync and could set fps limit per game too. Never had issues like these. Definitely software side keeps disappointing me at otherwise beastie RX 6800 XT.

For 2300-2400 range I think you could go a bit lower on voltage, 1040 or 1060 should work, but of course it depends a lot on the chip bin. Some can go lower, some need higher. I run my 6800XT at 2600-2700 at 1040mv, 100% stable.

The Vsync setting you can set per game, but the FPS limiter is only global, which is a pity, it would have been really useful to have the FPS limiter per game. In a way Vsync is a FPS limiter as in it will lock FPS to your display max, I use Vsync when Radeon Chill is not working properly and need some frame reduction. I love Radeon Chill, excellent function, only that in some games its sort of working, though in most it works fine.

Nope, crashes in RDR2, which turned out to be quite a good benchmark as it either crashes immediately or within 15 mins of gameplay depending on how "bad" settings are. The highest real voltage under these settings is 1031 according to hwinfo.

1040mv or 1060mv? Out of curiosity, when you say 2300-2400 range, are you saying you use those exact values as upper and lower limit?

1040mv or 1060mv? Out of curiosity, when you say 2300-2400 range, are you saying you use those exact values as upper and lower limit?
Either. 1060 crashes within 5 mins and 1050 crashes almost immediately. I can run 2275-2375 at 1070, but that's it, so I left it at 2300-2400 and 1075 for assurance. With these I can play for hours, no trouble.

These are the exact numbers I set in Wattman for low clock/high clock and voltage.

Could not resist, and since I had a new case coming in and some new radiator fans, I put Liquid Metal (Coolaboratory Liquid Pro) between the GPU block (Alphacool Eisblock Aurora) and my 6800XT.....
The results blew me of my chair (literally since one of the wheels came off and I almost broke my neck :D ) after 30 minutes of extreme burn tests, Furmark with settings that constantly sucked around 330w, the GPU temp had a max of 45c, and the hotspot a max of 60c (mostly 59) coupled with a CPU burn in to have the loop water as warm as possible. These results are a 15c reduction in hotspot temps, and a 10c reduction in GPU temp. It would probably been a couple of degrees lower with only the 6800XT frying and the CPU sitting idle.

Same decrease in Cyberpunk, where before GPU was at around 52, now it at 41, and hotspot which use to be around 72ish now is 56c ..... and the game using on average around 300w. I did LM on other cards before, but this one shows by far the most impressive results :rockout:

Don’t tempt turbogear too much. He’s desperate to improve his 94th global ranking in Fire Strike Ultra.

anybody else very disappointed with the 6900XT/6800XT Nitro +?
The cooler is absolute garbage and barely on par with the reference card.
and the heatsink is basically made for a 5700XT. i wish i could swap my card out for a different one (my 319 merc black is a strix vs. asus dual fan compared to the nitro +)
