Climate shift. Not everything everywhere warms up. The poles warm up but the adjacent areas, including the area of the British Isles, cools down as the cold from the poles spreads out. It might seem counter-intuitive but that's how it works. The equatorial areas get hit the hardest with blazing heat.
Ah, it's "climate shift" now! Sorry, I haven't been following the latest end of the world trends. :ohwell:

Now to figure out why last summer was hot as ever in Hungary. Maybe they've got "climate stagnation" or something. But only in the summer.

It's always been global warming (overall average increases in temp), but with climate change being the result. But this isn't the place for that chat.

Earthquake proof my nuclear power plant.

challenge accepted / hold my beer ?

lol

that Texas storm is a normal spring day here :(. Got 12” snow on the first day of spring this year…..sigh….

Supposedly it was earthquake proof? Something about the plant having a very robust emergency shutdown process in case things got shaken.

Obviously earthquakes arent the same as a giant tsunami coming at you

::edit::

Actually it got hit by both an earthquake and tsunami

That combo breaker.

"Global" kind of means it's happening everywhere, doesn't it? If some places are getting warmer, while some are getting colder, you can't really call it "warming" as well as "global", right? Maybe I'm too oldschool.

But you're right, let's talk about better things to talk about. :)

Has anybody been on a GPU hunt lately? I see stocks are starting to stabilise. Prices, too. :)

I bet you the buildings and streets still look like total shit though. I wouldnt say that Hong Kong is super vibrant when it comes to colours but its super vibrant when it comes to the UK. But then again the government there does spend a lot of money on keeping places clean.

Everything just seems to be greys, browns and dark tans. Maybe the occasional red brick or red painted building makes an appearance somewhere but its still like a dirty red. And take it from me - I actually like dirty reds.

Spring snow is becoming normal in England as well, unfortunately. And summers when you can't visit a beach at all because it's cold and rainy all year through. Where's all the global warming people now?
Dunno, maybe because the last couple of years we (UK and pretty much the world too) have broken the all time records for average annual temps and highest ever temps, a couple of years back we hit 38. something celcius in the UK which broke the all time record and then if my memory serves me the following year we hit over 40C. Rain appears to be an indicator of rising temps not receeding temps ..............

I should stress, I am no expert in the weather and whilst I acknowledge and accept climate change, although I am not an "active" advocate of it (because whilst climates have always changed throughout this planets history I am fairly sure that in an industrialised world inhabited by billions of people it's pretty unlikely we are making things better :)). #End.

I have on good authority that it did ;)

Had to play a few games of "pass the parcel" to get all the bubble wrap off but it's here, alive and well.

The packaging has some additional creases to it but I'd say it's done very well for a bottle that's racked up probably some 12k in air miles.

We broke the record? On one of the 4 days of summer that we had through the entirety of last year when it wasn't cold and raining? That's awesome. Still can't plan a visit to the beach like I used to. :(

The average temperature throughout the year seems to be dropping, the number of days of cold is increasing (it totally feels that way), but yeah, let's focus on that single day of heat that we had last year. Good stuff.

# Rant over. :)

Not in my part of the globe. It's unusual for Saint P to have temperatures like this in March:

I'm almost immune to cold, 10C is enough for me to walk in a standard tee with shorts. But the climate is definitely on some sorta twisted mission.

Totally accurate as well.

Nah. It would be over budget by a few billion, not nearly anywhere near completion and then it would get cancelled and be a hole in the ground leading to nowhere ;)

Speaking of British architecture, what's the deal with carpeted bathrooms? And what's with separate hot and cold taps?

No carpeted bathroom here. Its either tile or linoleum but both have a small mat or towel on the ground for anti-slip when stepping out of the bath or shower with wet feet.

That's not exclusive to the UK. All three of the bathrooms in my home are carpeted. We wouldn't haven't any other way.
Why? Carpets collect moisture and get mouldy. I love it in the bedroom, but I can't understand it in a bathroom.

That makes complete sense to me.

That's why it's called Climate Change, the weather is more extreme either direction, up and down.

Me also no to bathroom carpet, ours are tiled. As for the UK's weather, every year since 1961 (because the graph I was looking at started in 1961) the average annual temps across each year since have gone up ............. more hosepipe bans incoming! :D

@AusWolf Strangely we have both 2 tap and one tap sinks in the house.

Carpets collect moisture and get mouldy.
Not if you use the right type. I'm not talking about normal carpet. It's carpet designed for use in bathrooms and other areas where water is or can be present. They're tiles with carpet on top a rubberized plastic bottom that is glued to the floor. Very easy to keep clean and never gets moldy.
