The Turing line-up (NVIDIA 20xx) has been revealed

AdoredTV has revealed the NVIDIA 20XX series:

The RTX 2080 looks too good to be true but we'll soon know.

Ostensibly the cards will be announced at Siggraph 2018 (12-16 August, 2018 ).

Still I call it all BS: just look at the VRAM column. The naming might be right but other than that it's a load of hogwash.

I'm with you on this. NVidia has said nothing on the new gen except to say that they're a ways off. They are enjoying a very definitive and commanding lead over the GPU industry. They are going to continue enjoying that lead while they refine the new hotness.

Looks worse than expected actually. The 1080 was at least 25% faster than the 980ti and the 1070 was about 5-7% faster than the Ti. So Turing is a much smaller jump in performance relative to previous lineups.

Actually it has a lot of things I suspected might be true. Including nvidia pushing tensor to gaming.

I find it unlikely for GDDR6 to land on anything lower than RTX 2080. Or whatever it'll be called. Just look at GDDR5X on Pascals. Only top of the line cards get it, the rest have regular GDDR5.

Graphics market does need something new now, sure Nvidia already have the entire market covered with Pascal but the market feels stale.

Vega turned out to be mediocre at best and didn't disrupt the market at all because it basically disappeared straight down the mine above it's fake MSRP launch price.

Now bring on the 20th!

As far as performance is concerned, I think this might be close to reality because it doesn't completely cannibalize Pascal while still being progress. Except for the RTX Titan entry, which really just seems like GV100 all over again. Pointless release for consumer.

i didnt expect much of an improvement over pascal, its a no brainer to upgrade each generation anyway.

I dunno, balls through the walls sounds extremely painful, and equally less possible... but yeah, an overclocked 1080Ti should catch a RTX2080 if those figures are correct. It's only an 8% difference and shouldn't bother mortals who can't afford Titan. Even then it's only a 15% difference from the previous Titan...

I think the RTX moniker means that card is loaded with Tensor cores, while they remain absent from the GTX series. Still not sure what they do for gaming, though, as they're mostly used for AI...

The R in RTX stands for Real-Time Ray Tracing technology. What that has to do, if anything, with tensor cores I haven't a clue. But I assume the difference will be the RTX GPUs having Real-Time Ray Tracing capability, and GTX GPUs (still) not having it.

If they're like V100 then just path trace denoising on tensors. Not much else. It'd be nice to get bounding volume hierarchy traversal, intersection testing, etc in hardware, but I doubt it. I'd just assume RTX is Nvidia's nomenclature for DXR driver support.

If rtx 2080 really is +$700 due to new features and pascal clogging the shelves, I'm probably going for 1080Ti, not Turing. I'd much rather have a 11GB card than a marginally faster but also a bit more expensive 8GB one with ray tracing features. I am an antialiasing freak, I have 1440p 24" but I still use as much as I can, and seen games dangerously approach that 8gb. Heat/noise is a big thing for me but I'll swallow it this time.

Hmm, will be keeping the Titan X afterall if this is to be believed. Not worth swapping cards just for that little bump but I may change my mind when reviews come out (If we are to believe this).
