Ok so yes the other thread was hijacked but that wasn't totally my fault, it all started with a simple question related to op's original thread.
It's 3am here and I'm super tired but rereading the posts things weren't sitting right I have a pretty good understanding of batteries.
Last post was about power walls yes lithium power walls are extremely expensive mainly because of their output amperage you can buy cheap 12v 8ah lithium batteries but their max output is like 2amps, most of the YouTubers fitting high amperage lithium batteries are paying thousands on off grid solar systems but will spend even more because they have no idea about balancing batteries and degrade the batteries with their poor wiring.
As far as what bill was implying that's not correct either about volt-ampers. Va isn't a measurement of batteries it's decided by the inverter 2 batteries split on a 1400 Va system doesn't make a 700va system unless the output current on the batteries is to low But bill is correct in pointing out it's down to economics personally I think with the amount people like this forum attracts we are more concerned with a quality product rather than scrimping out though.
A 8ah battery doesn't produce 8amps it just means it can supply 8amps for 1hr considering most ups's for small offices are meant to last around 15 mins that would mean the battery would have to output 32amps or more. A 1400va inverter outputting 110v needs a 12v battery to output 116amps which due to economics is supplied by 2 cheap 8ah batteries that will last about 7minutes till they are empty.
Also 2 batteries wired in parallel are 2 batteries, a battery consists of multiple cells wired in series but even then multiple batteries wired series or parallel tend to be referred to as a bank
My original point was why aren't batteries in a ups protected from one another and why are they running tandem rather than staggered. when running staggered it's an extra failsafe added to the failsafe and that's down to cost from what I can see most home/office ups's even the good ones have the bare minimum to be called ups's
I'm not trying to argue if I've gotten something wrong I want to know so rather than hijack a thread we can discuss it here. I just don't understand why when we spend thousands on a pc and have to put up with something that could be far better to protect it.
