Theoretically speaking 128-bit to 256-bit

no, it's a physical difference. I mean the GPU that is set up with 128-bit in most cases would support 256-bit and if you built your own PCB and moved the GPU and memory to this custom PCB set up for 256 bit then it would probably work, but I think it would be cheaper just to buy a 256-bit card.
