There is no need to worry about the new government laws on high refresh gaming monitors, video inside.

Jayz2cents clears it all up. Honestly, this was very much needed, thank you a ton Jayz! I was genuinely worried gaming monitors were going to start being gimped in production/innovation because of these new laws coming in December.

Jayz explained it perfectly too, and I agree 100% with everything he said. You really need to watch it all the way through start to finish to get it.

Also, shame on you Nvidia, for not giving Nvidia g-sync modules a stand by mode, we probably wouldn't even have to deal with this if it wasn't for that.

so my 3 monitors would be too much power draw for Kalifornia?

Watch the video. I guess throwing out clickbait comments for quick haha's is what people do these days though for fun ;)

Again watch the video... you completely don't get it and apparently didn't watch the entirety of the video, just like your buddy Firefox there.

I watched the video.
The thing is that sometimes people/consumers expect too much from the manufacturers.
G-sync modules stand by mode? :slap:
People never complained about it before and now just because the California state came up with some BS like that people says: shame on you Nvidia, we probably wouldn't even have to deal with this if it wasn't for that:shadedshu:

To be fair, 15 watts energy consumption with your monitor in sleep mode... that does seem a bit excessive to me personally. I know in larger scale of things there are bigger issues, but eh.

I mean, you could debate if it's needed, but the lack of a standby mode IS nvidias fault.

Has it been determined the G-Sync module is not mining during Standby/Sleep :D

What you have to think about is the possible tens of thousands of monitors on standby, or even left on all night. Even at 5 watts, times that by the possible tens of thousands. Its a damn lot of wasted power.

oh? I am all for the new regulations, after you watch the video they make a lot of sense.

I already agree with you, which is why I made this thread. To show people pre-emptively before clickbait articles meant to only draw short term profits try to mislead them that gaming monitors are about to be ruined.

They aren't. Jayz video explains it all very clearly if you watch from start to end.

I can't stand the media anymore and their short term greed fear tactic headlines, so I am really really glad to see Jayz do this video way ahead of schedule. :rockout:

I did, I posted while I was watching it, it seems only my Nixeus is within those specs.

its all about how they are shipped. not the actual specs of the monitor. other than the gsync module thing using so much standby wattage anyway.

Aren't G-sync ultimate monitors and big Gsync monitors the only ones that still have a module? The rest are all Freesync Premium/G-sync compatible, no module inside.

My S2721DGF doesn't comply with Cal spec during load (EOn is 30.03W but Dell spec is 32W and that's at only 50% brightness). But it does draw a fat 0W in power save (still turned on).

My concern is that manufacturers will be scrambling for band-aid solutions that make the monitor quirky/buggy/poor performance, since they obviously won't be re-engineering existing monitors overnight. e.g. my S2721DGF has a bug where if it regains signal at a particular point as it's transitioning to power save, it will refuse to display any signal until completely unplugged and power cycled

well if you look at jayz video, he shows a gysnc monitor that is mid tier, and its not labeled gsync ultimate. it was manufactured sept 2020. but you are right. vast majority of monitors already have this sorted. so point is moot.

Due to the lack of a network connection I think it's safe to assume it is not.

To be fair, this isn't "the media" so much as the new "online media." Traditional media, which I was partially taught in at a college level, has much higher standards.

Or used to, anyways.

I never checked or cared how much power/energy my Monitor uses when off, so today i decided to check and it uses/consume 12.16W.
Usually when i have to work my PC is off 16 hours x day, so my monitor when off would cost me around 22,66 € or less per year.
