Thermal pad how large piece to cut ?

I was thinking thermal interface material-thermalcompound wasn't necessary if thermal pads were being used, excluding die of course.

Typical usage is one or the other. I have used many water blocks/aftermarket coolers and I never ran across anyone saying to use both at once. Obviously EKWB thought it was beneficial at least once.

You and I agree on that for sure lol.

To use both mixed together is new to me, I personally won't bother, ill tim the die and pad or tim the vrm/ram as long as the gap aint friggin huge.
