I have this problem on my gpu hd5770. the heatsinks been coming off at a rate of 1 per year and I'm worry.
check photo I think these are all the heatsinks that are off I will have to reglue them soon.

Should I use the same heatsinks if so what glue should I buy? can I use just use dollar store super glue, epoxy glue or what?

Thermal tapes exist, they are transluscent double sided tapes that are quite strong once set, yet still removable.

Where do I buy them? I looked at ebay. Do they have to be conductive or non conductive? I found 8heatsinks for vga that were being sold as conductive and also this http://www.ebay.com/itm/111341731505
I can use either?

if you have some spare Ram , stuff that has heatspreaders, you can separate the metal HS from the PCB & chips, and inside is good old double sided adhesive... just a cheap guy trick i have used in the past.... i use it for vRAM chip thermal tape. not for HS, but it'll work if you have some kicking around....if you do it this way, be careful & you can still use the RAM, as no system RAM really needs a HS, their just for looks

Say what? I think someone has told you porkies... That stuff is about as good as sellotape...

I wouldn't use glue in case you want to remove the heatsinks later. The metal tape is not for heatsinks either.

Here's one option https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA9F94BE9236
Or you can get a bigger pack that you cut to size yourself https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XNM2LJZ/?tag=tec06d-20
Another option that you need to cut as well https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001GIM9V8/?tag=tec06d-20
This stuff comes on a roll https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0I4JUJ/?tag=tec06d-20

On a current project, I'm using the T411 product from this company https://www.alphanovatech.com/en/cat_tapee.html
Not sure where you can buy that though, as it's provided by the heatsink manufacturer. It's more metallic than the ones linked above.

It might be cheaper to just buy new heatsinks with the thermal adhesive pre-applied? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S6YOE5O/?tag=tec06d-20 or https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S6TX630/?tag=tec06d-20

the thermal tape is conductive tho? I don't wanna fry an IC.
Thermally conductive. Yes.

Electrically conductive, no. No more than plastic.

Doesn't need to be so elaborate. Tiny dot of TIM of your choice in the middle, tiny dot of super glue on opposite corners to hold it on.
Works fine. Been doing this for more than a decade.
You want them off later?, little dab of nail polish remover where the glue is and they come right off.
