Building on the apparent success of the Big Typhoon 120 VX (CL-P0310), Thermaltake has announced a new high-end CPU cooler dubbed Big Typhoon VP. The product combines a copper base, six 6mm heatpipes and a big block consisting of 142 aluminum fins, with not one but two 120mm fans, one perpendicular to the base and one side fan which can blow air toward the GPU or RAM area. The extra fan features a 2-direction-installation option and can be placed at an angle between 0 and 45 degrees. The 120mm fans bundled with the Big Typhoon VP are rated to work between 1300 and 2000 rpm with a noise output going from 16 to 24dBA. Compatible with Intel LGA775 and AMD AM2/AM2+ sockets, the Big Typhoon VP weights in 822 grams and should be available soon.

I'd just like to see your mobo after a month with this cooler on it! Bowing of your board is something I really don't like to see.. But the Perpendicular fan does look nice!

I think thermaltake should rip that copper base off.. No matter how much surface area and airflow you'll have, such a thick base will bottleneck the performance. Nice fans though :)

I ordered me the big typhoon and its the best air cooler Ive had, until now. Even better than my AC Freezer 64 Pro. I loved it. My sister has it now and it cools her oc'd pc (my old one) just right. This new one is awesome. Oh and my board didnt bow one bit. That MSI was a strong mug.

i have always, and will always boycott any of TT's items. everything they sell always seems to be a rip off of some other companies original idea. or if it something that they truly invented them self you can find better quality at a similar price from another maker.

I have one of typhoon VX on my AMD X2 4200 and it s best cooler for bucks.
the only cons is attachment mechanizm for socket AM2 (cooler has 880g+) so you can move cooler on proc while it is attached on it.
as far as i consearn cooling, it is the best cooler, i have voltage on 1.65V and it doesn`t go above 60 C, so i will keep it for ewer, it is the best cooler i ever had

What are you using to read temps? If it's not Core Temp, or something similar, I bet your readings are wrong.

What makes you think this will cool better than the other coolers around, TT?

it was cheap :) and it does a damn good job, only attachment mechanizm could have 3 clips on each side instead one (not god for plastic attachment pins around socket, they can break)

Had mine for for almost a year now. Still do what it suppose to do. So, theres really no point in buying any other (newer/more efficient) cooler ifthe temp difference is only 2-5 degrees.

Those programs do not read the core temps, if I remember correctly. Your core temps are probably 10-15C higher than those readings, meaning you are likely running your cores over 70C at 1.65V. Not safe at all.

i was not impressed with the original big typhoon and I don't believe this one is a big improvement.... from various builds I did, I found Thermalright and Zalman coolers (Scythe Ninja, as well) to be the best coolers out there....
