I now have Win7 Ultimate 64-bit, but only on a DVD.

I have an older printer, an HP 1220. Need to find out if I can still use it - it's important!

Install 7 and see if it detects it. Win7 has a gazzilion drivers with it.
Win7 found everything on my system without the need for driver downloads.

Everything worked on install, I only had to hunt for updated drivers if I wanted them.

The drivers for that printer are suppose to be, either, there already, will download when you update, or go to device manager and do a driver update there.

If, that fails you, here is a good place to look: MS Update catalog (you might have to use IE on this MS site, it is picky sometimes)

Happy 64 bit computing!:)

^figured as much! thanks

Being the overly cautious person I am, I'm going to install this on my secondary rig. The motherboard is identical to the one in my primary rig, the only system differences are:

CPU is an E6600 vs a E8600
2GB vs 4GB
Video card (for the time being) is an X850

Sound card is the same.

If everything works like it should, I'm going to simply move the Win7 x64 HD over to my primary machine (after uninstalling video drivers). Should work, right?

Ok, don't get personal on me.

The two MB's are identical with the same BIOS. Other than the video card, all devices *should* be the same... though one thing I don't know if they are exact same revs.

Perhaps I'll do an install on a different drive and simply put my boot drive aside, so it's still intact.
