I'm thinking of buying an EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 SSC for £110 + delivery because of the price. It has been used very little and has been handled very carefully plus it includes original box and all the contents of it. Should I buy it and replace my 8800 GT? My resolution is 1280x1024 atm, will it overkill? But I'm buying a new monitor soon anyway. And is my PSU enough to handle this crazy card? Thanks

Like moon says its not £200 anymore.

They are about £140 now, and if you keep an eye out for the offers and special deals it can be had for less.

Just not from OcUK!!!

Would there be any difference from EVGA and XFX branded ones? And is my PSU enough for it and possibly a Phenom II in the near future?

the GTX260 is about the same as the 4870. But the 4830 only uses one PCI-E connector and runs alot cooler and more quiet.

PSU is more than enough and any brand should be fine as they are all reference.

GTX 260 is better than a 4830. Hence the 1.5 times price. Tho the 4830 can OC like a trooper. ( mind you so can the GTX 260)

Will it overkill my monitor since its only at 1280x1024? But I'm getting new monitor soon anyway so I guess it will be worth getting a GTX 260. Do they get hot as well?

From the price side of it, it looks good, saying it is around £215 New. I think it comes down to weather you want to take the risk of the condition ect.
Is there any reason why you want that make? I haven't looked at any Benches but you can get the 896MB XFX GTX260 XT for £150. But like I said, I don't know the difference in performance and weather you would notice it at the resolution you are at. What resolution are you thinking of moving to?

GTX260s are not £215 new. If they are, they are ripping you off.

GTX 260 gets fairly hot under full load, but nothing a fan tweak cant fix.

The stock fan profile on the GTX 260 keeps it cooler than the 4870s stock profile.

Tbh, i think you should upgrade the CPU before the GFX.

The 8800GT is still a VERY good card.

Since you are upgrading your monitor, definitely go for for the GTX 260. The coolers on the 260's are great, with sufficient case airflow they do not get hot (in video card terms) whatsoever.

Just go with ebuyer. Their service is great. Unlike some *cough* OcUK.

When you getting the Monitor / PhenomII?
