This Could Be Called Left4Dead 3? WB Games Has The Successor, Back 4 Blood!

As Valve has not ever tried to develop Left 4 Dead 3, the the franchise’s original creators have teamed up with Warner Bros. Games and Turtle Rock Studios to officially unveil Back 4 Blood, a spiritual successor to the Left 4 Dead franchise.

Just like the L4D franchise, this is a 4 person coop first person shooter with new creatures and loads of running and gunning!

Personally, I have been wondering if there would ever be a Left 4 Dead 3. Well, this looks to be the one!!!

Definitely interested, the last zombie game co-op I enjoyed was World War Z which was a lot of fun but level/story limited. This looks a bit more diverse and graphically more pleasing for sure.

I have friends who work for Valve and the fact that they're really not bothering to make games any more, coupled with the rise of competition (GOG, EGS etc) means that they need to hurry the hell up and get back on track. The feeling of valve employees is one of disenfranchisement and wasted talent.

In the last half decade they've made three games; A Hearthstone ripoff that bombed because it was an unoriginal and shallow clone of a better game, a mobile game based on a community-written DOTA2 mod (it's actually not bad but Valve barely did any work themselves, they farmed it out to a third party studio and published against their own name since DOTA is their IP) and HL:Alyx which is incredibly niche being a VR-exclusive title. It's good, too but so few gamers I know have played it. So yeah, the original thinking that Made Valve great 20 years ago is totally dead.

The fact that L4D was dropped by valve and left to rot is yet another example of Valve being effectively worthless these days. All they do is continue to flood Steam with quantity over quality, turning it into another Amazon-esque flea-market where Gabe gets his 30% cut no matter how terrible the content or what effect it has on Steam's reputation as an online game store.

Well yeah, did you not read the OP? It's the Left 4 Dead team making a Left 4 Dead game. Of course it looks like Left 4 Dead. The only thing that stops it from being called L4D3 is Valve, busy starting at empty space in a catatonic state, drooling all over the floor.

Well, Hollywood loves to reboot stuff, so i dont see why dead/forgotten game franchises cant be rebooted too although thats usually down to the decision of their respective publishers who prefer to stick with the tried and tested formulas like NBA, FIFA, CoD and Battlefield rather than step out of the norm and try something different. Both EA and Activision have tonnes of Intellectual properties tucked away but dont touch any of them unless they've had a really deep think about how to monitise the hell out of them.

In this case it took the original developers 10 years to go back to being independent and re-establishing themselves away from the company that had bought them and shut them down... A bit like an abusive relationship one would say but apparently they were on good terms with Valve and afaik still are even now.
