I've settled happily on racing games and cockpit based melarky, I have not the room for more but missing out isn't an option either for me.

That's great just pricey , and usually the setup of anything beyond the basics is a knightmare of arse about face proportions on ocul, well I'm sure them all.

I can only imagine the logistics of making this work properly are going to be a nightmare considering how much work it took to get a profile setup for my wheel on PC2.

Yeah, I did see that before.

It might be nice to have but it’s not a prerequisite for me. I already have a couple of VR HMD’s and they are fun to use.

I just don't like the idea of, "before you get the thing, get this thing". It's just another barrier in the sense of price of entry.

IMO, get a good VR HMD first and then accessorize because that is what this is, an accessory.

Plain 'ol VR just isn't appealing.

If that is your view then you are entitled to it. I certainly wont try to dissuade you from your position on this. To each his or her own.

For me, I like VR and likewise no one can persuade me otherwise because after all I have the experience with it and I know what I like. Therefore its an informed decision / opinion.

To your point though, if a pig is unappealing what difference does adding lipstick to it make?

Also there are a number of different VR games that this type of accessory would simply be inappropriate. Racing games, flight games, and so on,...

BTW, this isn't a high tech accessory. It's not "Ready Player One" level. Its just a low friction concave running surface with a tether / anchor point,...

I would love to own a VR treadmill. I have been looking at them for a couple of years now. IMO though they are way over priced. Even the Kat C which is being sold for $999 Plus a few hundred in shipping fees is overpriced. They even make it seem like that price is a sweet deal and if you don't buy through the kickstarter it will be more later. Yeah, pretty much all the other units and most likely the Kat C too are priced in the thousands of dollars range. For an accessory that is just too much. When the accessory costs 2x to 4x the amount of the HMD then I have a problem with that.

Sure its a cool concept but its a niche accessory that will only be used depending on the game played. Takes up a decent amount of floor space for a device that might not get a ton of use. I love VR but I only play VR once in a while.

I'd be willing to pay $600-700 for a treadmill. At that price i can see taking the chance on one. I think given time we might see these offered cheaper but then again who knows what the future really holds for this tech. I actually think a full motion suit along with a treadmill is awesome but damn the prices on this stuff.

You can make one yourself using Vive trackers

Yeah I looked at using the sensors but ultimately decided against it. Vive sensors are priced fairly I suppose and I have found another brand that would work but the cost is much MUCH higher. In the end I think I'll wait and see what Oculus does going forward. I would prefer to keep my kit to strictly Oculus myself then again i have not looked to see how easy it is to connect the Vive kit to it. It is definitely an option.

Using the stepping motion (stepping in place) is cool as I do that now without sensors just to trick my brain into thinking I'm really walking (when using full locomotion) as its easier on the stomach, I have found that II do not have to do it any longer but sometimes still do. I'm very restricted on space so I like the treadmill as one can walk, run etc in place. I just can't wrap my head around the price. Especially for the quality I see of the Kat C. It doesn't look like a device that will stand the test of time. The ones that do are priced high as to be expected I suppose.
