I saw a inexpensive ASROCK H61m board..
and it got me going down this path

how does a watercooled 3570k and the above board sound.. its less than 40% the best price of a decent price on any 4770k and good board....249.99 total vs $279.99 4770k, and 150-250 z87 board...
seems that the 3570k overclocks well, and I do have a kick ass water system gatheing dust...
so assume I can cool down either of these set ups in over clocked mode...
is there any reason Not to get the above 1155 ?
have to verify the asrok is all digital vrm

I've got my 3570k watercooled (not a very good unit, but still) and it runs perfect! I can oc it to over 4.8ghz stable and I idle around 30-40c across the cores and full load at around 70-80

that looks good, Ill keep chcking on z77 pricing .. looks like the asroc above is limited in oc capability.. may not have decent digital vrm from reading reviews...

Watercooled is asinine in this situation on a H61 board. The board sucks for overclocking. If your watercooling, get a board that overclocks better such as a Gicgabyte Z77 UD3.

There is a better board cheaper. The MSI Z77-GD65. Asus had some issues on the Z77 side. I would recommend the MSI board. I tested every Z77 board and it is the best bang for the buck plus it is a firecracker of an overclocker. I got my highest overclock on a 2600K with this board over any board at 5.2GHz stable if it means anything.

well, i found a maybe on the asus at 63$, the inventory control is suspect...
then an msi G43 z 87 board at 97$ shipped..
at this point the 3570k vs 4670k.. hope I got the numbers right, is only 10.00$ 190 vs 200... so I dont know where the real savings are???
I am almost at a dead heat for price..
now lets go see the board you mentioned.. can you see the blood running out my ears from over analysts.. lol ?

ok... save ten on a new 3570 at 190 plus tax...
with your recommended board at 154 no tax fre ship
ouch...
its a great board.... not sure between it and the other msi board as the newer board is z 87..
thanks for the feedback... I was shocked to see the 199.99 price on the 4670k.... that steared me back into looking at the z87 boards...

so, im going to the store and see if they have the $63 open box asus board... otherwise I may just punt and go with the no tax $97.00 msi g43 board...
wish I had the two boards side by side for a testing

ok... as much as I like the idea of going 1155 and cutting my costs in half...
im not really there... best price mobo mem and chip 1155 is $320 ish... at 8 gig set of ok ram...
with the 1150 im a little higher at $365 and this is IF the guys have the open boxed asus board ... no question in my mind the msi g63 is a better board... and at 97$ for it as a z87 shipped Im pretty sure my best VALUE looking at both oc and gaming is the 1150 and the 4670k.. the mem stays the same...
thanks

darn, I really thought I saved myself some money... well i did since prior i was hooked on a 4770k..

ok Micro center did not have the open box 63 z77 board, bummer..
they do have a 100 open box msi z77, but really why save 20 im going instead wiwth the g43 z87 from new egg... the g43 suprisingly, or not, tests almost identical to the g45... super oc performer... now its 120board...
i do not see any reason not to get eh 4760k... unless someone here thinks there is great benefits from the 477ok worth the extra 50.00$ ?

next ? is a 2400 mem fast chip a bid improvement from a 1833 fast chip? with all the changes Im not sure what to do for stability and oc with these new ddr oc chips, im looking at

GeIL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model GEV38GB1866C10DC

GeIL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) vs the hper Xblack beast 2133
there is a big difference in cost.. 50% more for the hyper X BB

ok got the g skill 2x4 gig 2400 ddr at a screaming price.. $63 shipped
looks like the choice is to go z87...
was really thinking msi untill I looked at msi and gigabyte d3h d4h side by side...
ok.. and the web posting , and live chat from Micro Cente listing NO AVAILABILITY of the Gig 4h board was gogus, he local store had about a dozen......
so now it looks like Im going to go z87x ud4h on super discount for 365 including tax with the 4760k thats like a $100 off or more against retail, so i bought the ram and am hopefully picking up board this week..

H77 is usually 30 less than z77. 1230v2 is 199 @ microcenter. Its a i7 that can't overclock, the multiplier is locked.

ok.. I was looking at 100 '77s.. and at that price im so close to the z87.. and its tough agaisnt the bundle combo...
note when I started the thread.. MC online showed NO STOCK!!! of the mb.. WTF???? local store had ten and live chat had no idea... seriously time to fire someone

so now we are up against 199.99 for the 4760k, and the z87 gig for 140.. thats some great pricing.. to go to a 3rd gen I would need to save over 65$ and get good speeds.. i just dont see it happening ..
than ks though and only the mem has been purchased...
also got a line on good recycled ps or free from a freind who repairs

If you step into Z87, make sure the issues are ironed out first. A lot of times they are sorted via BIOS updates, sometimes not though.

New sockets have new issues. The z87 chipset is all new because Haswell is a month old.

Well here is what happened
Decided on gigabyte z 87 uh4d
the ONLINE ad for the Micro Center retail on page four has an obvious OOPS.. price this mobo at $74.99
Well I guess that settles it, the site shows it unavailable, but it is available and is in stock in the stores...
To get this I had to buy either an 4770k or 4760k, which I was doing anyway.
So case closed...
Gigabyte z87x UD4H and a Cpu 4760k bundled at 274.98 which is an amazing an absurd price... but they honored the online price and a manager approved me getting this...
Anyone interested should go asap to the local MC before this gets pulled
