I meant the cooler.
It always comes with vrm/vram cooling, no matter what card.

@lynx29
who cares about cooling?
the person that realised that his aircooled ti only performed as good as a 2080 because of bad cooling
when testing a LC 2080, that goes for half the cost...

So your telling me he can't save up $70 and buy an aftermarket air cooler for it down the road? Also, I hightly doubt you even need to underclock and undervolt. Just set a strong or default MSI custom fan curve, that should keep the temps in check even with a blower 2080 ti, won't be able to OC though I am sure.

@op if you decide not to buy it tell your friend I will.

No, just referring to your statement that you dont care about cooling.
I would actually put it under water, i wont get any air cooler for +300$ cards,
at least not after i saw that the aircooled 2080S i got, to replace the LC 2080 i bought (open box, was defective).
the LC was faster, even that the S never went past 74C, not even mentioning that it has more SC/TU and faster vram.

Lets get a look at it then.

Lets start you off with a 260 power target and 300 watt max, your bios current is 250/280.

Its a PNY bios. We will play it safe since you are on a blower card.

If you get a Arctic, Gelid, Rajintek Air cooler, or a water cooler we will then proceed with a higher level bios than what im providing.
I already installed a HeatKiller VI (it's a waterblock https://shop.watercool.de/15626) on my card. I only had that lousy blower cooler on there for maybe 2 weeks. I mentioned this in several post. My temps are in the high 40's while benching/gaming. At the stated overclock levels I mentioned in prior posts.

I'm not super concerned but I will probably try the increased power limit bios. Default higher clocks don't really matter will cap out in the same place. But let me know of the others.

I still say, at least let oc scanner do a scan with maxed settings, so the curve
gets applied takes higher limits/better cooling into account, and should help maximizing clocks (without V increase).

I ran NVIDIA Precision right after I installed the waterblock. It wasn't capable of pushing it as high as I did in Afterburner but gave me a good baseline.

After further OC'ing I have managed to get +220Mhz on the core and am boosting, frequently to 2100MhZ. RAM is now running at +700Mhz.

Okay at +225 Core I crashed a couple time in TimeSpy and Destiny 2. Works fine at +220. Temps are around 45c, so the next step will be the Bios Flash. Not sure when I will get around to doing this since at best I'm looking at 60-100Mhz increase.

Do the 2 bios i suggested for now, then let us know you are ready for a higher power level. I can find em easy lol

That cooler covers all critical heat parts right?

Yes. It is a very well made Waterblock. Heatkiller brand is one of The better full coverage blocks on the market.

No problem it's relevant. I am still debating on whether to do this right now or not. My card is crushing everything as its with it's limited power draw still hitting 2115Mhz on boost.

@eidairaman1 any help with this one? sorry @ZenZimZaliben for riding ur coattails on this on thread
This one has a power limit of 285w https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/214531/msi-rtx2080super-8192-190708

This one has 313w https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/212709/asus-rtx2080super-8192-190709-1

Wow, this Gigabyte has 350w. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/213288/gigabyte-rtx2080super-8192-190710

Your card has a limit of 250w.

Is power limit the one card runs into?
Power Limit is the main issue with OC'ing 2080's. Power Limit and Thermal it doesn't even matter what you put into Afterburner because the card will instantly throttle anything beyond 45c or so. Which is why I am hesitant to flash my bios. I am at 2115Mhz @ 42c. I think even if I had more power draw I have about 1-2c to play with before card throttles itself. So maybe an extra 100Mhz.

Sounds Reasonable. Are ventus cards prone to failing during flash?
The cooling capacity is akin to what a blower card is plus msi tend to be lower qual across their stack (akin to gb)

Yup, flmatter will be starting small, being a twin cooler would require higher rpms out of 2 fans...
