Thunderbolt PCIE Expansion Card

Hi everyone!
I am not sure if I'm posting this in the correct category. Anyway, I ordered a Gigabyte M550 MB (B550M Aorus Pro) and according to the pictures, it has a Thunderbolt header. I was wondering if I wanted to add Thunderbolt card, must I use a card from Gigabyte, or can I use other vendors? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, unfortunately there's no standard for the add-in cards, so you have to get the one from Gigabyte.
The reason for this, is because the little header on your board, differs between different board makers.
It seems like a silly thing to do and technically it's just some kind of SPI/GPIO, but it's not entirely clear what it's for.
