i have crossfired hd 4890s that are getting out dated...they arent dx 11 cards, i run at a pretty big screen resolution, they work great for bf3 etc but with 2 cards they run a bit hot for my taste and the hotter they get the more performance drop i begin to see, its not exactly and issue RIGHT now so my question is how much better is the 7x cards vs the 6870 how long til the 7x cards come down in price compared to 6870? my friend has a 460 and its on par with my 2 4890s im tired of crossfire problems :banghead: i want single card performance again

If you don't require the upgrade right now as you say, I would at least wait until the 7850 and 7870 are released (on March, I think).

6950 would be a tad out of my price range unless i could find one used but i dunno how i feel about ebaying a card unless some one on tpu has one for sale

6850 is a good cheap card but i would wait till the 7850/70 are released, the bonus is that prices will drop at retail and second hand for the 6xxx series or maybe by then you will have more funds available for a 7850. The GTX560 overclocked is a great card too as it matches and beats a stock GTX570 (obviously an overclocked 570 is even better).

I'd wait until the next gen of cards to come out...Your 4890's are fine...I have a 6950 2gb model that runs as a 6970 and a 4830 and tbh 90% of the games out run exactly the same...

I say wait until the next gen of consoles come out before you upgrade unless you're upgrading your display first and are simply lacking the power to push it...

The only 560 I know of that can match and even beat a stock GTX570 is the 560Ti 448 Core, which cost substantially more than he is offering to pay.

Ok just so i have this straight and for a personal note, wait a few months for 7850 to release and watch 6850 6950 and the 7x prices? What are the new features on the 7850 vs the already released 7 series cards? Just faster clocks?

Edit: just did some more research and decided the 6850 will probly not give any performance increases, at very least I need a 69x card but the best upgrade will be 7 series card
