Mod's move to where you think it belongs.

Anyways I'm a HUGE fan of the Tomb raider series and when I seen they're making a move I almost crapped my drawers

Lots of YT links with preview's but here I'll start this here

    She had a double mastectomy

Doubt she wants to be put into a movie where she will have that part of her body compared to the old movies and the game

I seen a movie trailer that portrays Laura in RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER... Where she calls out to Jonah in the mountains.

Let me see if I can find it

I don't see her as Lara, she has a different Aura, looks, and manerisms as Lara in the game, I wish they could have taken another actress more similar to Lara but she indeed got acting skills(i've seen her other films), so that maybe a plus anyway. however the movie looks decent and looks like they heavily followed the source material, which not a lot of video game adaptations do.

Good casting, as far as reflecting Square's Lara.. and good actress. I might like it.

But I'm not in any rush or going to theaters.

I think she captures the aura of the "believable, but hot archaeologist" that the new games have.

    Wow, that's a quick cash-grab project.
I bet with this tempo Hollywood will drive Uwe Boll out of business.... :banghead:

P.S. Gimme my old Lara back, you bastards!

I'm willing to bet this won't be Uwe Boll quality. The director made the Wave (Danish flick), which wasn't a bad movie. Definitely not in the cheesy/desperate B status that Boll is in. It's actually a good flick to go by... an action flick with strong character driven drama.

    edit: Norwegian actually.. not Danish.

Not biting, too many elements inspired from the video in just from the trailer alone makes me roll my eyes. I hope the movie(s) don't kill the reboot Lara, like the first movies killed the original.

I'm not worried about the director, I'm worried about a writer.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet is a famous screen-writer who created.... uhm-m-m-m... nothing so far.

Assassin's Creed was also shot by a decent director, and had a much more experienced writing staff, but they still got a piece of crap movie.
Same goes for disappointing Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Warcraft etc. etc. etc.
Some people may not agree that those were failures, but take away special effects from the equation(at least partially), and you are left with nothing but crap.
If they had Uwe Boll budget, it would've been exactly the same Uwe Boll quality. I went to the movie theater for Warcraft, and was still more disappointed than after my last big-screen viewing of the last Indiana Jones. :banghead:

Damn it, was that bad? Saw it on the counter at my sisters place and was tempted but had things to do, glad I dodged that bullet.

Yeah, I didn't even stick with the AC movie to finish it...

But... it was never a good story even for games. At least I think so. While Tomb Raider always was. If any game has a chance at translating well to film, it's these.

Same with Warcraft. And definitely Resident Evil (although the movies are much different..).

edit: Funny that she and Michael Fassbender are a couple...and doing video game flicks.

It was not awful, but way below mediocre. Acting was lazy, script was lazy, ending was even lazier.
AC plot was ridiculous, even by AC standards.

All of the above also applies to Warcraft, and then some.
The biggest problem though, is that everyone from Universal to Blizzard totally missed the demographic for this movie.
They still think that this was meant to be for kids in their early-to-mid teens, but totally forgot that most of Warcraft fanbase who will attend the movie was in that age about 10-15 years ago.

The only worthy story for the big screen is Thrall... and he's not even in it.

I'm sure it'll still be different. I'd be surprised if they didn't go their own direction somehow.

Well, @Recus already answered that. I haven't seen this trailer, but now I'm definitely not going to a movie theater for this...

I still don't like that they've dumbed down the tombs in the games, but as far as the movies go, this looks way better than the Bimbolina ones. Alicia Vikander is a seriously good actress, wise choice.

Yeah Alicia has been in some great movies and plays her rolls really well. Story aside im sure she will nail what the director tells her to do even if the movie itself is bad.

Yes, obviously it is. They show the very same story details following her dad's work and having to fight Trinity, and perhaps the most telling is the exact same ship wreck scene with her leaping for her life. It adhere's more to an actual TR game story than any of the movies have. Just the fact that Warner Bros and Square Enix are listed as some of the producers, both of whom are involved in gaming, should tell you something.
