A new member who cannot post here sent me this useful information:

ickywu said:
1. Many of your guys seem to think they can only charge back to Paypal with a credit card payment. Important to understand that's not correct. If they have linked their pp account to a debit card (especially a Visa or MC "logo" account, it is VERY likely their issuing bank can and will charge back against paypal and return the troll payment. The member needs to head for his/her bank and ask for help. Also, worthwhile to diiscuss this with their band **ahead** f time.

Will paypal close or lock their account? Maybe. But, they haven't touched mine and I've charged back a debit payment twice. Can be useful to contact pp customer serice and ask for alternative help 'pls tell be this guy's actual info' (they will not) You leave me no alternative. Also seems useful if several or more, peop0le use chargeback. Clearly, it is then PP that is out the money (plus it tends to increase their chargeback reserve). Seems like good things happen when pp feels the burn.

Next, I once got ripped on ebay for 3,000. Paypal refunded me 2 grand, within hours of the claim closure. Now, I had spent hours trying to get actual info out of them. Nothng. And they knew that both I and they would take a loss. Well, I got enough info from the profile of my troll, facebook, myspace and, especially, ZabaSearch to locate my troll. I called him on the phone and was able to intimidate him enough with the information I had gleaned that implied that both he and his relatives were on the hook that a door knock from his local pd (after I discussed the problem with the wire fraud guy in the police department) ended in a money order coming my way. And the fact is that most good size towns have a section that can (and are willing) to help if you ask them to do things that theu can do.

Yes Visa has confirmed this, charge backs exists with both credit and debit cards, the banks may tell you that this feature is only available to credit cards.

The bank staff may not be aware the feature is available to Visa debit cards as well so be persistent and ask to speak to some senior personnel, or even another department until yoiu get the charge back request through.

Contact Paypal first, they would rather freeze/re-open the scammers account and refund the money to you, the scammers account will be in negative balance, better that than for Paypal to completely write off a loss, they can chase the fraudster up with the banks, Feds, local police etc...

Wow do I feel screwed over. My bank wouldn't do anything for me when I got scammed and I used a Visa debit card.

WOW, I almost bought from this guy, however he kept updating with new items but no new pictures...

You guys are doing a great job. I had to deal with a guy like this on the Evga website who was an ex employee of Evga. He had ran 4 scams on their marketplace under 4 different usernames...

I really hope you guys nail this guy and make him feel you wrath. Maybe some time in jail, will help him to think about what he has done.

It is sad to see members who are just trying to save a few dollars and help other members out by purchasing used be scammed by one A******.....

I want to tell all the members who have been scammed, I know the feeling and for 3 nights, I scoured the internet until I had found more than enough information on the person who scammed me. Then one of my buddies who happened to live near him, went and paid the little punk a visit and scared him straight. I ended up getting my stuff back, but that did not stop him from trying to scam again on the same forum...

I am sorry for all those who are not only out money, but who may be out computers, because the parts they needed were supposed to be in the mail, and for those who have had to deal with that horrible feeling like someone reached through your computer screen, came into your house and robbed you...

I wish you all the best of luck in finding this guy/ getting your stuff back.

If I can be of any assistance, tracking down information etc... please just let me know. :toast:
