Too many Covid -19 threads?

There are now three about three threads that are about the virus (One is in Science & Technology and two in The Lounge) . Anyway of combining them?

Which is supposed to be what it says it is but so many people go off topic and the thread is requiring heavy moderation because of it.

I assume you're implying the third thread is The Lounge > From the News and...well...I just looked at Reuters and every single piece of news is COVID-19 related in one form or another. Once COVID-19 settles down, it will diverge from COVID-19 topics.

I don't think any mergers are necessary. They all have their purpose.

The Maps one in Cience and Technology should stay there. As @the54thvoid said, the maps track it, and thus by extension other maps and relevant stats and data are allowed.

The other things that are off topic get either removed or low qualitied. The thread serves a useful purpose when kept to the above parameters.

the thread in the lounge is for any other talk about COVID-19. It too started out in Science and Technology, but too many people couldnt keep their conspiracy theories and politics out of it.

@rtwjunkie & @FordGT90Concept are correct on all their points. The Global Issue lounge thread was altered to be more flexible to allow almost all topics (started about economic impacts). The maps & tracking thread is for updates and posts regarding specifically the spread and regional/global outcome. Merging isn't required and a few folk don't use the lounge.
