As the title says, i'm looking into buying another ATI 5850 for some crossfire action.

I have this PSU Topower Silentcool 500W right now. It has a peak of 600W (or so it says).

Im not intending to buy another PSU in the foreseeable future.

Can i get another 5850? Or do i run the risk of blowing everything up??

And it recommended a 475W PSU.

EDIT 1: I really dont want to get another PSU.

EDIT 2: Has anyone even tried 2x5850 on a 500W PSU??

You would need a more higher rated psu to run 5850's in crossfire
I don't know about that screenshot, but perhaps a 500w psu may take two 5850's but i bet your psu would work under a lot of stress
Do you still have the box of your current 5850? There should be a recommendation there

Yeah its an MSI R5850 reference design.
I know about ATI power recommendation, and i find them a bit conservative.
600W should be enough considering a 5850 doesnt take much more power than a 4850.

EDIT: I know i only have 500W PSU but i dont have many things to power. Just 1 HDD and 2 fans.

you def need a new PSU. I would get at least 700 watt PSU that'd be minimum for me. I have 750watt PSU and it works fine under 2 5850s. Make sure your PSU say's Crossfire/SLI Ready so you know you get the most out of it

Your PSU would be fine if it gave out 500W on the 12v line, but it doesnt. Your PSU gives out 360W on the 12v lines, and you will really be pushing it with 2 5850 and a core i5 overclocked.

You would be fine with your 500w psu and crossfire if you dont overclock.

i'm assuming that the safety features would just kick in if it provide enough juice.

Well i need to borrow another 5850 to try out first.
