Finally managed to get all the Steam cards out to everyone who won Aug 9, 2021 - Aug 16, 2021... this took much longer than expected. Only one missing is @trog100 who's been ignoring my PM.

Starting a new campaign for this week, will also hand out prizes for the currently running month

I hop on the forums every day and check new threads....why am I just seeing this one now? Then again, I think it was because I was out of town when the original post was made. It's a very nice gesture and I just wanted to say thanks.

I may have missed it, but can folks win back to back or is there a limit between wins?

I know this may sound odd, but I've participated in enough RNG picks in a MUD that I play to last a life time and I've yet to be picked. I'd see the same people constantly getting picked in random crowds of 100+ people for every in game "merchant" event. The room would be packed with people and the RNG spinner would constantly pick a handful of folks over and over again as the players moved from merchant to merchant. When the merchants only offered work for 10 people and out of those 10, 3 or 4 that had been randomly picked at all the other merchants would get picked again, it grew tiring to see.

I guess, I'm asking if there's is something setup to help spread the gifts because some folk have that RNG luck and are picked over and over again.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into an annoying time sink for you. Any way you could automate it more?

Also, those that don't respond in a given timeframe (maybe 5 days?) forfeit the prize and then the prize is just rolled into the next week/month drawing?

Yes you can win back-to-back, but not multiple times in the same drawing

Dunno yet, that's why I'm doing these "beta" giveaways

5 days seems very short, I think a couple of weeks is better, and I tend to learn towards forfeit, because adjusting the prizes is a bit more complicated. Since this is basically free cash, I doubt a lot of people will not respond, especially once words get out

Always open to ideas. Not sure if you've seen, the number of tickets is not equal to the number of posts (chart link at the bottom of the rewards stats page)

So if someone wins the weekly and monthly, they only get the monthly and the weekly is given to the next person in the list?

Also, and please forgive me if this was stated earlier, are TPU staff eligible?

I like the idea, but i fear much more moderation is needed, and loads of offtopics etc.

After sleeping over it a bit I feel like the current baseline (postcount but on a ... logarithmic scale) is fine, however I feel like it wouldn't hurt to add another metric, which is why I'd suggest unique positive reactions as a secondary metric to encourage quality posts.

Fine print (to make it more resilient against abuse):
- Only reactions from accounts meeting a certain criteria would be counted (seniority, post count ...)
- Only unique reactions are counted - ie, if I were to react to 15 of John Doe's posts, they'd only get one count, however if John Doe was to receive reactions from 15 different people, they'd get a count of 15
- Only positive reactions are counted (Like and Love I suppose?)

You can not win more than once in the same week.
You can win in that same month, too, but only once (in that month)

Makes sense?

Good question, don't know. As active member of the community many mods are helping other with their questions, so shouldn't they have a chance at this too?

Obviously we shouldn't be counting posts in the internal staff-only forums (just made a code change for that), also made sure that reporting a post does not count as post (internally this creates a new thread with you as author)

Maybe. So you can win only once a month, whether it be the weekly or monthly draw? So for example, because I've won that one weekly already, I would not be eligible for the monthly that is coming up in a few days?

I think the volunteers should at the least, but that's only my opinion. It could be seen as favoritism and a conflict of interest by some, so it's ultimately going to be your call. I was only curious.

No, you can win in every drawing, but only once, not multiple times per drawing

If its not biased towards abusable criteria (pure post count only) then it's still fair, we're acting posters on the forums and contributing

How about a one off reward based on total number of posts? to reward long time contributors (of which I am not one)

Love this idea, I do my best to be any help if someone needs some, tho also I admit that some of my posts are more or less chatting. But what you can do in a good community like TPU? :3

I'm the same way. I come here to keep up on tech news & advancements, learn about same, help people needing assistance with problems & guidance making upgrade/purchase choices or just getting the most of what they have, and of course a fair bit of socializing with the community.
