I used to be that guy. That guy that would read reviews on tech sites and not bother looking at comments. That guy that would (and I still do to a degree) get my own data for my opinions on a product. I was that guy that would watch Youtube videos and not even look at the comments. When I started reading comments on some Youtube and tech sites I was disappointed and put off with some of the baseless or brand loyal attacks that people would make on either side. I joined this site in 2017 and did not have much to say initially. I studied threads and comments on threads and came to the conclusion that this was a good site to add my own thoughts and insights to. Not only that but to also get information and opinions.

Since I have started making comments it has been a great understanding on my part that this is a site for people that are legit enthusiasts. Anytime I have posted a thread I seem (for the most part) to get exactly the information I was looking for. There has only been 1 time that I have been called an AMD fan boy after all of my posts even though I am none of the sort. I love the nostalgia threads, the speculation threads, reviews and everything else. I was on a thread today started by LostSwede and at this point there has been posts about BIOS updates, AMD's response to the issue and even a HWBot update for their specific issue.

I was on a thread the other day about a new Adata NVME drive and got into a discussion about their drives. Another user and myself were debating Adata and instead of it falling into a acromonious mess it ended with me being quite happy about learning about NVME drives that I was not aware of. The thing that I really liked though was that a moderator came on and addressed the desultory comment that was made.

So TPU keep up the good work!

I tend to stick to one Tech site to stay active on. For years before signing up for an account here I read articles here and occasionally the comments but I was active on Tom's Hardware back then. Tom's went downhill imo and I decided on TPU to be my main tech site. Got an account and became active in the comments section. It's a good place. I've learned a good bit from the editors and people that post here.

Game sites can be pretty crappy too but I've learned to pay attention to the commenters on one game site that are mature, experienced and knowledgeable and tune out the rest. I'm too old to worry about looking cool. I just want to enjoy gaming like always.

I could not say it better myself. The next thing for me is to find some users that I can play games with on Fridays.

TPU fanboi!

I should mention that I've known the boss from before he started TPU...
He even asked me what I thought about the name for the site and I said it was a bit cheesy, but hey, 15 years later and the site is still going strong...

In all fairness, I didn't use to post much here, as I was busy being a tech writer myself for the first decade of TPU's existence, so I had my own things to look after, but since I'm no longer doing that, I've ended up being a regular here, for better or worse...

I visit several sites every day. I feel if you don't, it often ends up like watching only one news channel - you get only one side of the story. That said, I spend most of my time here. While there have been many downs, for the most part, its mostly positive. And what I like is there is a lot of expertise from many areas within IT. And with IT being industries within industries, getting that exposure and rubbing shoulders with other experts who come at issues from different angles, it is a great learning experience - always important, even if one has been heavily involved in IT support for nearly 50 years! :)

I used to post on Toms a lot back around 2005 - 2008 (under a different handle). Their PSU community used to kick butt and rival JG in knowledge but then they got too big in terms of forum posts and made moderators out of their most avid posters. Unfortunately those avid posters were all fan boys and soon every post had to be pro Intel, pro SLI, and pro Seasonic and anything to the contrary got you involved in a flame war...with a moderator. Their forums made "barrens chat" in vanilla WoW look like a PBS talk show. :banghead:

I work a lot so I tend to do a hit and run on tech sites. Still my heart is here for a few reasons. On TPU its been like family, we fight, discuss and sometimes rant but at the end of the day we're still here. Talking not only tech but our personal lives as well.

Quite accurate... I've tuned to TPU for quite some time and only good vibes around here. As for the gaming sites... most of them are crappy or insecure. That's why except for checking comments on the site, my suggestion would be also to related thread on forums for that site or just browse Google to find some proper guides for games sites lists (like this) and go through the comment section. I'm pretty sure, by doing that you'll be able to avoid crappy sites that are probably scam.
