Anyone else getting MCM work hold up in upload? I'm getting a "Upload pending (project backoff)" status.

EDIT: I see that the WCG website is down. I suppose it's related.

Guys, anyone has suggestions on remote desktop programs that can run on W10 Home? I'm going to run 2 headless crunchers.

The motheboards have W10 Home digital licenses tied to them so that's what I'd like to go with but I could install a linux distro as an alternative.

I use Tight VNC. Run it as a service, so you can reboot machine, and log into account, even if Windows password needed

Not sure, but does Home version allow M$ remote desktop? That seems to work pretty good.

I use TeamViewer.

Not officialy, there's an RDP wrapper that enables some remote desktop functionability but not what I need (listen for connections). Basically it lets you remote desktop from W10 Home into W10 Pro but not the other way around.

I use TeamViewer.
Free or paid version? I recall using Teamviewer once or twice, don't you need like the other party to give you the access pin or something?

Free.

You have to set up an account with TeamViewer and then add the boxes that you want to remote into to your account.

That worked for me for so long and then stopped... They don't like you leaving them logged in over a day and such, so now its just VNC, its so much easier... And not annoying when it tells you it will time out in 10 minutes, when it means 20 seconds..... That was damn frustrating....

Yeah, Tigh VNC looks like the perfect solution for a local network. If I had to manage an offsite cruncher, that would be another thing. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

BTW, is there another work outage? None of mine are working ATM, boinc just keeps re-trying. :banghead:

I think I am done with WCG, from the increasing power costs and them being down for such a long time, now my work units dont count, they all say corrupted.

But I've noticed that they were not actually keeping 3.5 days of work, until I changed "Store at least" to 3 days. Looks like I only updated one system.

I had about the same configuration, 4 days of additaional work units, but for the past several weeks, I would only get enough work units for a few hours with a laptop, 11800h cpu when left on over night.

Yeah, Tigh VNC looks like the perfect solution for a local network. If I had to manage an offsite cruncher, that would be another thing. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Even on a different continent, it is not too difficult to set up. I use no-ip for ip dns, and port forwarding in the router.

Now, I subscribe to a Wireguard VPN service, so that adds a layer of complexity I have yet to overcome. That is always active on my personal rig, but the workhorse folding and crunching rigs run (when running) barefooted, no VPN. I have an option to allow local network access through the VPN, that makes it very easy to do local "things."
