IMHO: His reviews are so sophomoric that they are a waste of time. His review of a 2000 series Threadripper started with them looking for a 1000 series TR to flash the motherboard, but one of the requirements that AMD made for TR4 motherboards was that they all have flashback. No CPU needed to flash the BIOS.

With the number of transistors in this it is not surprising. What would be interesting is making an APU using Threadripper's die size. I am confident you could put a 3900x and a full Vega or Navi GPU onto that :laugh:

That said, the lab coat build guides that Linus did around 6 years ago were fantastic. He had decent professional mannerisms and explained a lot of useful information. Over time he started to constantly scream like a banshee and the build logs morphed into a total sponsorship wank-fest. Rarely watch his videos these days.

Yeah and the cheesy jokes, sarcasms. It's more like an entertainment show than a review. He could easily talk about plastic bag import from China and it would have had the same lousy tone.
I watch it from time to time but it is no longer my favorite. Wait... never was. Lack of professionalism in my eyes and ears.

It is & tbf that is what the market demands, sort of. Reality TV & "breaking news" has just messed up a lot of substantive programming & content we used to have, granted it also depends on the region as well as language but the trend is pretty crystal clear. More sensationalism sells, real content not so much. And you can blame some of that on gen Z or whatever they're called these days :ohwell:

So is this about 3990x or Linus? One is a $4k cpu, while the other is someone that's a writer/proofreader/ceo for a successful YouTube channel with 10 mil subs. I don't really like his onscreen persona but underneath he seems to be an OK fella.
