Transfer SSD system disk to HDD...

I've searched extensively, but all links insists in pointing to "transfer HDD to SSD", so... here we go! :D


Are there any "traps" in doing this? Anything I should pay attention to?

Or am I right that it's a simple, straight forward operation?

My system backups are created by Acronis btw...


Reason for getting rid of the SSD is just lack of trust... :slap:

The biggest "Trap" is in cloning the drive itself. Why not just use a free backup utility to take an image of your system? There are several very good ones. Then you can have peace of mind while still enjoying benefits of SSD?

One of the best and easiest to use free I've encountered is EASUs Todo: http://www.todo-backup.com/

The free version has all the features you need. You can backup your OS, and data in two different operations.

I'm fully covered in multiple backups and full drive images... too much "expensive" working stuff floating around here.

What you're saying is: just go ahead and let Windows 7 figure out the rest?

No problem! What do you mean about letting W7 figure out the rest? Can't really answer that if I'm not sure what you mean.

I mean, just boot up the restore disk, restore system disc image to new HDD, shut down, boot up on new system disk and then let W7 "do whatever"...

The Samsung 840 SSD is running with TRIM a.o. things enabled/disabled... W7 will detect and change things back to "normal" running?

If you have to re-image, yes it should pick up exactly as you left it.
