Transferring boot drive to new PC

The motherboard on my socket FM1 system is failing. So far, I can't run PCI-e x16 graphics cards, and the network has failed. I am considering upgrading to gen 3 Ryzen, which I understand is due soon. I want to transfer my drives and keep all my apps. Is that possible? I know I will need to install new drivers, but will I be able to boot into Windows to do that? Will I have to get the latest Win 10 ISO file and "repair" in order to do it? Or will I have to put aside a day to reinstall everything?

If you have Windows 10 in your PC, just put the drive in the new PC. Whatever driver is missing it will download and install. Just uninstall any chipset driver you have in it atm. If your OS is Windows 7 you need some tricks. Here is a good article for different cases: How To Get Ryzen Working on Windows 7 x64

Thanks.

My working OS is Windows 10. I will also use a second SSD to run Win 7 for benchmarking, but that is not such a bind to install from scratch as a lot less apps :)
