Today, Far Cry 5 is getting a 60 FPS patch on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 as part of its fifth anniversary celebrations. Take down Joseph Seed and his Heralds at twice the framerate as you explore the different regions in Hope County and liberate its citizens. The 60 FPS patch applies to all of Far Cry 5's game modes, as well as its three DLCs; Hours of Darkness, Lost on Mars, and Dead Living Zombies, making now the perfect time to dive into the backstories of Wendell Redler, Nick Rye, and Guy Marvel, respectively.

In addition to a smoother visual experience, Xbox Series X|S players will receive enhanced resolution for Far Cry 5. Xbox Series X will be able to run the game with a 3840x2160 and 4K resolution, while Xbox Series S will run it at a 1920x1080. PS5 players will still be able to take out the Seed family at 2880x1620 resolution.

Far Cry 5 is playable in solo or in co-op with a friend. If your squadmate doesn't yet own the game, they can give it a test run during the Far Cry 5 free weekend running from March 23-27, which will also run on 60 FPS for current-gen consoles, or take advantage of the 85% discount at the Ubisoft Store from now until April 4.

Discover the open-world of Hope County, Montana, besieged by a fanatical doomsday cult. Dive into the action in solo or two-player co-op of the story campaign, use a vast arsenal of weapons and allies and free Hope County from Joseph Seed and his cult.

About Far Cry 5:
Welcome to Hope County, Montana, the land of the free and brave, but also the home to a fanatical doomsday cult. Stand up to cult leader Joseph Seed and his siblings, to spark the fires of resistance and liberate the besieged community.

Play Far Cry 5 for FREE from March 23-27, now available at 60 FPS on next-gen consoles.

Celebrate the 5th anniversary of one of the most acclaimed games in the Far Cry franchise and get up to 85% OFF all editions!

These Far Cry games really aren't very good. I'd rather play the original Fry Cry over these bland, uninteresting sandbox shooters that Far Cry has been since #2.

I've had Far Cry 5 on my Steam wishlist for a while and it's on sale right now as part of their Spring Sale. I've never played any Far Cry before, but I found this one interesting for some reason. Ultimately though, I decided to pass on picking this game up (for now) when I also saw that TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection" was ALSO on sale....so I picked that up instead :D:laugh::rockout:

Not really agree with you :)
I found theses games are not so bad.
Like the open gameplay, sneak or full force, sniping or rocketting, is as you like.
Can be dull someting or repetitive, i do agree but overall i've enjoyed my time

Yeah it's not bad, very pretty at times too. Besides it's kinda fun shooting God fearing hicks. I've not finished the game but I'll keep chipping away at it.

FC3 was fun, and blood dragon was a nice diversion.

Then we got 5 more, all with the same gameplay.

It's starting to get really old.

I actually really enjoy the series. 3 & 5 are the best ones for me.

My cloud save got corrupted half way through FC3 so I never finished it. I did complete Far Cry 4 though, and enjoyed the playthrough.

I watched Youtube videos of all the cutscenes for FC5 and FC6. I actually enjoyed at least watching through them. Both have quite interesting endings. Definitely worth the watch.

Love the whole Far Cry series, and 100%'d Far Cry 5 including all DLC. So I won't be going back to it, but nice to see the updates for folks that still have it in their backlog and haven't got to it yet. The Far Cry series (like Tomb Raider) is more about the immersive story than the shooting. It has that fps element, but you'll miss a good game if you give up on it too early thinking that's all there is to it.

I didn't like the first game. But I loved the graphics in the demo. The water was amazing.
Later patches broke the game and made the enemies see through walls and insta-kill you.

FC2 was a very unique game. It had many flaws, but the African setting was great.

FC3 was my favorite in the series. Crazy characters, great gameplay, beautiful graphics. And the Blood Dragon stand-alone expansion was awesome.

It went downhill from that, but FC6 was a big surprise for me. I actually rate it on par with the third game, and some aspects were even better (hunting was optional, you get a parachute and wingsuit right away, and there are cool vehicles like tanks and planes).

Ubisoft is definitely in trouble, though. The entire gaming industry kind of is. I hope they can turn it around, but their golden era is long gone.

I played the free weekend of Far Cry 6 recently, and it was a fucking blast. I wasn't expecting to like it. I ended up playing like 20 hours total for the free weekend duration. Still have my save, hoping it will be in a Humble Bundle someday for dirt cheap and I will go back and finish it then.

I disagree with this, the combat and vehicle types just were really fun imo in FC6, never played the others.

After recycling the formula so many times, and introducing largely pointless new (to the franchise) mechanics, FC6 is a funny game, but pretty pathetic. Just like its autistic cousin, AC.
