Today, Ubisoft released its sales figures for the first quarter of fiscal 2018-19, i.e. the three months ending on June 30, 2018.

Yves Guillemot, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, stated "We had a record first quarter, which exceeded our expectations. This performance was fueled by steady growth for our back-catalog and an excellent momentum for PRI, once again confirming the increasingly recurring profile of our business and the ever-greater success of our digital transformation.

Our teams are continuing to deliver on our strategic plan of ramping up our franchises. Assassin's Creed Odyssey and The Division 2 were very well received at E3, confirming their full potential in a highly competitive environment. Our new creation, Skull & Bones, also made a very good impression due to its innovative gameplay combining naval battles with a multi-player experience.

Thanks to its numerous growth drivers, brisk digital trajectory and close-knit relations with its gamer communities, as well as the fact that it directly owns its brands, Ubisoft is ideally positioned to meet its targets for full-year 2018-19 and continue to grow and increase its profitability over the long term."

The Group applied the IFRS 15 new revenue norm for the first time in its quarterly financial statements for the three months ended June 30, 2018. As a result of applying this standard, a portion of revenue generated from games is now recognized after the initial delivery date of the game concerned. As the Group has elected to use the cumulative catch-up method for applying IFRS 15, the revenue figure for the first quarter of the previous fiscal year have not been restated.

Sales and net bookings
  • Sales: €400.0M
  • Deferred services: € -18.5M
  • Net bookings: €381.5M

Sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2018-19 amounted to €400.0 million (415.4 million at constant exchange rates).

First-quarter 2018-19 net bookings came to €381.5 million, representing an increase of 88.8% (+ 96.1% at constant exchange rates) on the €202.1 million reported for first-quarter 2017-18.

Outlook
Second-quarter 2018-19 sales and net bookings:
The Group expects second-quarter 2018-19 sales of between €345.0 million and €355.0 million and net bookings to amount to around €345.0 million (versus €264.2 million for the second quarter of 2017-18). This year-on-year expected increase is due to the back-catalog momentum and initial in-stores shipments for Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Full-year 2018-19:
Ubisoft is standing by its targets of:
  • Sales of around €2,000.0 million
  • Net bookings of around €2,050.0 million.
  • Non-IFRS operating income (based on net bookings) of around €440.0 million.
  • Free cash flow of around €300.0 million.

Obviously. More peasants and they're at least twice as stupid, so they'll eat up ubi's crap. Can't wait for another "free the xyz area" game or boring AC sequel #500.

Still no actual news on BG&E 2. They must be doing their best to destroy that IP.

but to be fair PS4 out sold gaming video cards by 5 to 1 because they went to mining farms, So actually this round is a bit iffy..When there are gaming cards at reasonable prices the gaming industry for PC does even better.

Most people are using cards (or worse) older than the ps4.

While I would normally agree with this statement, since 2/3 have been forgettable, it’s hard to generalize since some such as Black Flag and Origins have been real standouts and quality games.

Far Cry 5 (March 27) and The Crew 2 mostly drove those sales (June 29). Probably cosmetic sales from Ghost Recon Wildlands and The Division too.

PC outsold Xbox One. And where does 2x come from? 38% to 24%. That's only 1.58x. Oh, @W1zzard, you were looking at Q1 2017, not Q1 2018! Must fix. Thread title is factually wrong.

Yes "Gurustud" you are a superior human being and worthy of looking down on so many others...

On a more serious note, as long as the PC is an interesting (profitable) enough market to make games for, it really does not matter to me.
Hate to see the "PC gaming is dying" thing to restart though...

FC5 is the first Ubi game I've owned in awhile. It's actually pretty cool. Thing is, I didn't even pay for it (came free with the Radeon). Sucks for them..

In reality, we don't play ps4 Ubisoft games, we test them- dont like it, then sell to others.
Half of the purchased games are ea sport games others are ubisof, activision.
We don't haw full hd display. newer had. Now i see what garbage box it is in reality PlayStation.
Also, their game won't open in the guest mode with no internet like Tom Clancy-The Division

Seems like they had a lot of different promo deals with recent products. I hope it worked out for them.
I think when your making the GPU's for all the consoles it affects the ability to offer more games with cards at a better deal for the entity that is offering the bonus game or games....just a hunch and may not be accurate at all.

So many angry PS4 haters here, unreal. Most sucessful console ever so far, love it or hate it. Cheap, amazing single player exclusives, good graphics for the price, perfect for sports and fighting games.

As much as PC shown growth, still miles behind. Pc players like to play fortnite, pubg, cs go and LoL/Dota. Pretty much other games are "empty".

"most successful console ever" eh? I guess you forgot that the PS2 existed?

The PS4 is doing well, but it has a long way to go before it catches the PS2 in success. So far the PS4 has shipped 79 million consoles as of march. The PS2 sold 155 million as of 2012, and it was on sale for several years after that, estimates put it at around 157-158 million total. And while the PS4 has a handful of great exclusives, the PS2 had literally hundreds.

Again, the title is wrong. "PS4 more than 2x that of PC" is for Q1 2017...a year ago. Q1 2018...today... is 1.58x with PC selling more than Xbox One. PC is clawing back as this generation of consoles wanes.

I haven't played and enjoyed anything from Ubisoft since Splinter Cell. I've had Far Cry on backlog for years. However, it does look like Assassin's Creed: Odyssey will be the first AC game that I will like. Also, this is the first I've heard of Skull & Bones and looks decent so we'll see.

Hm and I keep hoping they bankrupt.

Ubisoft will only die if EA buys them.

Seems backwards we need Ubisoft to buy EA and kill it off then bring back some of the good IP's they've killed off over the years. That would be the ideal case scenario by a long shot.

The Division and Rainbow Six Siege are both great games overall. I won't say they are perfect, but they are excellent games and value for dollar. I've spent as much time with The Division as I probably did with vanilla WoW or Warhammer Online and have had more fun overall despite some of it's flaws and rough edges. I think overall that's more than reasonable and not bad at all. I think the game could be better build balanced. The hacking addressed better. Rogue agents deterred a little more proactively and reasonably. Groups would have been nice to be a bit larger 5-6 players would be nicer. I feel AI bots group member supplements would be a very handy addition as well for both missions and DZ. Guild and bounties would also be really good additions especially if they could extend beyond DZ zones. That said it's still one of the better games I've played to date period in it's own way flaws in all it's highly entertaining.

It's ironic that Ubisoft games probably have the biggest differences between PC & console versions. I mean, they don't even try to make Far Cry 3 Remaster a proper 60fps game like what PC version did 6 years ago.
I guess console gamers really don't care about framerates.

Let them hate, who cares. Let the sales numbers talk. They are missing out on awesome exclusives. Their loss. I'm mainly a PC gamer, but my PS4 Pro has been worth every penny. The platform has so many high quality and high rated exclusives. I did not own the base PS4, so I had plenty of games to play when I bought the Pro. I got it with my 65" OLED - HDR gaming is awesome.

High end PC + PS4 Pro is for me the best combo. I feel sorry for people missing out on all those PS4 exclusives. Can't wait for The Last of Us 2. Still playing God of War, amazing game.

Let them hate, who cares. Let the sales numbers talk. They are missing out on awesome exclusives. Their loss.

Loss indeed. This is my only regret, but it isn't enough to get me to go back. It seems these days that good games are more available across all platforms though so it isn't as big of a problem as it used to be just a couple years ago.
