I saw that vid some time ago. I think its cool. But the screen is a little small. But I think carrying a 40" screen around isn't fun either. On the other hand it would be a good training... :p

Benchmark Scores Faster than the tortoise; slower than the hare.
I see several problems:
1) Sensitivity is too low. If there is no way to change it then absoluetely worthless.
2) It must have speakers on the gun otherwise you won't know what direction you are getting shot from.
3) You'd have to have one of those omnidirectional treadmills.
4) The game would really need to be designed specifically for it so that everything is based on the position of the gun (e.g. no "crouching" and "crawling" unless the guns position indicates you are). It would also have to detect jumps.
5) Ideally, the video display would be on a helmet and the position/facing of both are constantly monitored.
6) All of the above is not cheap.

I'll keep my mouse/keyboard, thank you very much.

That's not new, it's how the cops here have trained for 10+ years. In fact, it's just duck hunt with a beamer.

i ment new as in his gamegun, it had an lcd screen and he said he is going to install projecters on it now..

The "sensor" in the unit is actually a gyroscope mouse, so yea you'll be able to adjust the sensitivity i'm sure, the gun itself holds a keyboard with the common keys like crouch walk run jump etc.

The games really can work out of the box as it actually only acts as a mouse and keyboard he just crammed it all into a toy gun and make it seem like its more than a mouse and keyboard
Other than that i agree with everything you said
