After seeing a 37" LCD TV sell on another forum I thought to myself "It's time for a new TV" as I currently have a 32" CRT TV which although still very good is very big and of course not as energy efficient as an LCD. Basically I'm looking for a 37" to 42" LCD TV but i'm on a budget so be reasonable. Collection in Glasgow or nearby Glasgow would be ideal to save on postage costs.

Thanks for the offer Exavier but I was really looking to upgrade in size. I was looking to spend £200 max on a 37", and well I think a 42" is out of my price range but I can stretch to £250 for one. Unless the discount puts it down to under £200 I would rather go second hand. Again thanks for the offer.

I still think it might be a little optimistic..I mean, brand new a 22" 1080p tv with freeview goes for £229+..

Your price of £200 is, in my opinion, extremely unrealistic for what you're looking for. £200 is the going price of 26" TVs. Even a year ago, my TV was £800, It's dropped to around £600 for an Hitachi 42" 1080p LCD TV.

Generally even 32" LCD TVs start at about £300. If you want a 37" You'll need to spend around £400 for a decent TV. You can get 42" 1080p LCDs from £480.

My advice is to save up some more money until you can afford a 42" because going from a 32" CRT to a 32/37" LCD is pretty much just a sidegrade, not an upgrade.

ok guys maybe i'm a little optimistic, but i'm not completely unreasonalbe! I'm not looking for a brand new shiny one, and I don't need the integrated freeview or one that supports 1080p, i'm thinking one that's a few years old and can do 720p. Maybe when you include postage it becomes a little far fetched but on another forum a 37" lcd sold for £165inc and nobody wanted to pay the asking price of £200 (ghost101 might know about it as he's on OCUK too). Also kyle, i've seen second hand 32" lcd tv's go for £175 and £200 can get you a brand new 26"! Generally I have found that when it comes to things like TV's they loose their value very quickly and a tv that's a few years old will generally go for half the price of new ones.

Add to all that the fact that i'm skint and we reach that price. Although I don'tthink i'm going to have much luck so I might just stick with the good old CRT for a while longer until they fall in price.

PS. thanks for the link ghost :)

I don't think you saw a branded 37" fail to sell for £200? I suppose you can find random brand 37 LCD TVs in that range, but wouldn't you rather get a decent 32" TV?

The 37" was antec, I suppose it was just a one off bargain so i'll stick with the 32" CRT for a while longer.

Here's the link if your interested ghost - here

Well atec. So basically a no name brand. Something like that won't hold any residual value for 2nd hand sales since you get no warranty.

For a brand name, theres trust you can place, but with Atec nothing.

I suppose your right but that's what I was aiming for. I'll just stick with my 32" for the moment and wait until the prices come down.
