Hmm.. I bought one of these 3 years ago when they were the "real deal". They're good power supplies, but there's definitely better out there. Also, this thing is pretty loud.

I can do creative things with a dremel...

I was already thinking about replacing the two 80mm fans with quieter ones, and flipping it over so the intake pulls from outside the case, instead of from the cpu/mobo.

Buncha things really. Main reason being that the PS is gonna stay a lot cooler sucking in ambient temps from outside the case. I'm not worried about airflow for the rest of the case. Creativity with a dremel leaves many options open.

Depending on the case I get, which is coming along round tax-return season, I'll probably makes room for two fans in the top of the case then one in the front and back, and possibly a side fan. I've got time to plan it all out, but the x-clio cases with the giant fans are probably going to be my top picks. It's keeping an eye out for sweet deals that is gonna pull it all together and not break the bank.

Silverel, you have some kind of air went on top of your case? (or you cut one?).

As for that PSU, I have an X-Connect like that (only silver/titanium model) running in my server box, and it has been for almost two years. Great PSU. Pretty quiet and clean power. I've had several cheapo generic Chinese PSUs die on me within months of installation in this same server. First the fans die (which you can keep replacing) but eventually the PSU goes to PSU heaven. X-Connect has been performing great so far. Also, I got an improved X2-Connect model running in my primary machine. Another great PSU. (Although I did pay $100 for it) Ultra is one of the few PSU manfuactures that offers a free lifetime warranty.

When I get it, i'll be putting it in the rig in my specs, and I'll experiment with that. I'm pretty good working with metal and such. Got a nice little shop to do it all in. Pretty easy stuff, just need a block of wood so you don't dent the case, a decent size punch, a compass for a good circle, and use a dremel with some skill. The fun part is going to be getting it flush across the top of the case so the nice looking grill protrudes a 1/4 inch or so..
