Dear Team, I am very thankful for the NVCleanstaller to get rid of all unnecessary software during graphics driver update.
Unfortunately I see an error message at the end of the package creation:

Error: Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x80040202

What do I do wrong?

Thx and stay safe an healthy

--- Remark ---
Just created WITHOUT unattended installation option, now NO error message occurs. Strange... still not sure what i did wrong...

What did you click on that screen? "Build package" ?

yes, build package. Attached the options I selected. Now it seems it doesn't matter whether if i choose "unattended install" or not. But at the end a proper .exe is created.

I have the same problem too.. Drivers 511.79 and NVCleanstall 1.12 but for me it happens right after choosing the tweaks and going to the next page

Update: for me the error is different
No endpoint available in endpoint mapping
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706D9)

Do you have an internet connection? If you have to rebuild the digital signature NVCleanstall has to contact a timestamp server

Hallo, I have an internet connection when running NVCleanstaller. If i do not build a package, but immediately proceed to install, i do not receive an error message.

Yes I have it, I think it depends on some windows services, I enabled some of them and it works now... Weird, this never happened even with all services disabled

Do you have a list of the services you disabled?

This is the registry key I use since years (Probably since Win7), I've never had any problem

Scanning through I noticed CryptSvc is getting disabled, doesn't that break all cryptography and signature verification functions in the OS?

Consider that it's a reg key found on internet years ago, and some of these services are not really closed (probably you need some special rights from the OS). I checked my services list with Autoruns and CryptSvc is enabled, so I don't think that one is the problem. Anyway it's weird, because with this configuration I've always used NVCleanstall for years, this problem is happening only recently.. Maybe Win11 with the last update changed something in how services works? Still remains the fact that when I enable all of them the program works, so I guess I have to do that everytime I use NVCleanstall from now on

Unlikely but you never know

What would help a lot if you could find the exact service causing the problem

@atlas1394 I just tested your reg script, and found that the problem is the disabled "KeyIso" service displayed as "CNG Key Isolation":
The CNG key isolation service is hosted in the LSA process. The service provides key process isolation to private keys and associated cryptographic operations as required by the Common Criteria. The service stores and uses long-lived keys in a secure process complying with Common Criteria requirements.

next release will catch this specific error and show a better message:

Awesome, thanks! Still remains the doubt of how I managed to use NVCleanstall all this time with that service disabled (it was working till 2-3 months ago), but at least we know the cause now ahah

If you picked tweaks that don't require "rebuild driver signature", then it'll work fine

This solved my crashing issue too. Good to know that this service needs to be enabled for signature creation. Tho the error message is still useless with 1.13.0
It should say something like "CNG Key Isolation not running. Please enable this service to proceed". And it should not outright crash the program if it's disabled.
Better yet have the program itself enable it at startup to avoid this issue alltogether.

Also a separate issue. Im on Win10 and have Control Panel installed. Is it normal not to show option to add CPL to DCH drivers or am i mistaken and it's included post r490?

I think the special handling for this service isn’t part of 1.13 and will be added in the future, on a Weekend trip away from my code right now

Nah, messing with people’s Services is never a good idea

I think it’s included in 490, not sure about the exact time when they added it, i vaguely remember it was around 478

Ok i get not wanting to mess with people's services. Tho maybe query service state at startup and enable if disabled and disable after installer creation?
