Doing my weekly Wednesday check of EVGA's B-Stock page, I find this:

No, it's not strictly "new". And it's dual-DVI, which will be inconvenient for most. And it's a GT 1030, everybody's second-least favorite graphics card now that the 6500 XT exists.

BUT: It's the GDDR5 version. It's available from a legitimate reseller with a warranty. And it's something you can buy for less than a kidney and still play* games on.

I dunno; it made my day a little less glum.

*Don't laugh. When my office PC was down for motherboard shenanigans, I fell back on an old Optiplex that my 1060 wouldn't fit into. The 1030 was the next best thing I had on hand. And it was fine! For a given value of fine: Deep Rock Galactic, for instance, played great at 1920x1200 at Medium to Medium-High settings. Heck, I may just pick one up, as I'm running out of spare modern graphics cards.

EDIT: Well that didn't last long; looks like they're already gone less than 24h later.

At my work we have them for 70$ and you would be surprised how many people buy them for running older games or stuff like wow classic. We also have 3060s for 499$ though so idk if it's like that anywhere else but it makes me happy to see that some stores still have morals.

I'm actually on the lookout for one of these for a project. One swallow, but let's hope these prices will transpire this side of the pond.

Not sure I would be. Some folks do still have more sense than money. I may not be one of them, though; I probably spend more on lots of cheap parts than I would on a few expensive ones. But that means I get more stuff to play with. :D

Not a bad find. No hate justified as long as it's not the DDR4 version :D I've heard of EVGA B-stock but no experience as to how it is

Slightly slower than a properly juiced up 4750G/5700G (B-die, OC iGPU, etc.), but definitely faster than a neglected stock 5700G, which most are.

Truth be told I sometimes would rather have one in my 5700G HTPC if I could find that locally, if only so I can work with Nvidia drivers and NVCP.

I can certainly think of worse deals. One of my friends paid 2060 Super money for a 1660 last year......

EVGA strikes again, this time with something a little more worthwhile (to a point). At least while I type this, there are 2060 KO cards up for USD330, which is actually 20 bones less than launch price. Which was a) too high to begin with and b) three years ago, but still...

The only thing EVGA strikes is nonsense. The KO is joke of a card and even more so at 330 bucks. I suggest you stay away from their crappy store and check places with actual cards at more actual prices. AMD recently had some for a decent while.

WOW, THE GT 1030. Finally I can play Solitaire in 120FPS!!!

Just kidding, anyway its cool to see these as they are pretty nice for certain uses. I used one in a PC because I got a stellar deal on a processor without integrated graphics and managed to pick one up for 30 bucks. Of course that was awhile back, good to see them for a reasonable price again.

But why dual DVI?

You're entirely correct; the 6600 in particular is a better play for similar dosh. I never claimed this was a screaming deal (or anything approaching), but seeing as the 2060 is significantly faster than the 3050 which currently sells for as much or more, it's not the worst deal out there for somebody set on Nvidia. And I dunno, my experiences with EVGA's web store have been entirely positive thus far.

Specific office or large-format display requirements? I dunno; all sorts of weird configurations show up on low-end cards. That was way back in January anyway. Although the DVI/HDMI passively cooled version popped up earlier this month for about the same money. Managed to convince myself not to buy one.

Seems like their B-stock is unavailable in EU even though it shows EUR prices.

They probably have the whole site set to localize automatically. While I'm on the hypothesization train, I'd wager that B-stock is US-only since that's where their refurb center is, and it wouldn't make a ton of sense to ship overseas, since once you add that in you're up to new pricing or possibly more.

Yeah, GT 1030s are not so bad. I've got one and it performs about the same as my much older, but top end GTX 285 and has twice the memory too. I did a benchathon on TPU a few years ago for this card.

Shame NVIDIA don't produce these bottom end cards anymore as they were clearly improving from gen to gen and I like to buy them. I know, it's due to improved IGPs.

'S about time. And ya can't help but love that entirely redundant second fan and extra three inches of shroud on that particular card.

I suggest you actually go check some reviews of the KO card and see how much of a crap it is. A very overpriced crap. I don't know where you're trying to get with this thread, EVGA makes garbage for fanboys. Some of their high end cards are good, but their boards, etc... are trash. Save the clickbait thread title for another day.

Yeah, title may have been a bit clickbait-y. I'll cop to that. I'll also cop to not doing thorough research on the actual MSRP for the KO, which was $300. As it's more than that currently, I indeed put forth a falsehood, if an unintentional one. But at your suggestion, I did check some reviews. Out of the top four (including one from here on TPU), the biggest common beef seemed to be louder-than-ideal fans due to a less-capable cooling solution than competing 2060 designs. The common positive was favorable pricing vs. competing designs. Interestingly enough, and despite still being far too high, that advantage stands. Not quite seeing how much of a crap it is. That doesn't mean I'm about to run out and buy one, at least not until it drops another hundred bones or so.

EDIT: In case anyone's wondering, I didn't cherry-pick those; they're simply the top Google results that aren't spec aggregations.
