i was playing bad company 2 in 3d at 720p at 2x antialising and anti tropic(i think thats wut its called) for about 30 mins, i monitored my temps using realtemp. when i exited the program my temps were as high as 77c for 3 cores, and 75c for the last core. is this normal for a core i7 950 overclocked to 3.64ghz at 1.28 volts on a cooler master v6 gt fan cooler in a haf x case normally i get 70c in call of duty black ops and starcraft 2. ne suggestions as to why this is?

Some games are harder on the GPU(s) than others . . . games using older rendering technology (i.e. CoD - seeing as how the actual game engine hasn't changed much since CoD3/4) don't stress the GPUs as much, even with all the eye candy turned on. Newer titles on newer game engines can be a beast, though. For example, you'll see higher temps with Metro2033 as compared to CoD:BO.

RTSes aren't typically that harsh on the GPU, either.

perhaps managing 3d puts an unusually high strain on the CPU? Ive found with both an i7 and PII x6 they usually hover around 60-70% cpu useage in BC2 which should mean less than 70 degrees even on a worse cooler.
