Current specs are:
-Q6600 @ 3.2ghz
-ASUS P5Q
-GTX280
-Cooler Master RS-750
Basic gaming pc, I play black ops, MW2, bad company2 and a few randoms.
I usually upgrade ever 16-18 months and do not buy the newest/best/most expensive stuff.
I need help choosing a processor, mobo, SSD and ram right now, as I think I will keep the GTX280 and see how it performs with a new cpu/mobo.
I am curious what one could expect for difference in the following CPU's, performance vs cost. Yes I realize roughly .25ghz difference, but is there much performance there?
-i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache 1366 130W Quad-Core -$295-
-i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core -$209-
Mobo will depend whether I choose the i7 or i5... Looking at the following:
If i5- ASUS P7P55D-E LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard -$150-
If i7- not sure but budget is $150 range also.
RAM. 8gb for now, I do some 3d modeling (solidworks) and would like 16gb later if needed.
-G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) -$125-
SSD. Looking to run OS and basics on this. Not entirely sure I am going with SSD yet.
-Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe MKNSSDCL60GB-DX 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) -$130-
Thanks in advance for your help and input.
