Updating bios on a gigabyte black edition ga-z97x-ud5h-bk I have z97x-ud5h-bk f7 installed and the f8 is ready to be downloaded and installed using gigabytes app center. When I install f8 Version the program says it will not respond. Do I have to switch this on the mobo to make it work or what ?

When In doubt read the motherboard manual and use a low level utility that is specified by the manual.

You have to extract the new bios to a USB flash drive, then boot and enter the Q flash by pressing <end> key during the boot

Don't use the app

Best policy.

I would only be concerned with boards of the skt 1156/55 era, same with Early AM3 boards (not so much Am3+)

@eidairaman1 for TPU presidency to promote stopping all these crazy BIOS flashing.

We are not promoting harassing members to death about flashing BIOS, so please stop with this type of action. Realize our membership grows when people run into issues. In fact, what started most members to come here, when TPU was new, was flashing the living piss out of X800 ATi cards! Seems ironic that we frown so harshly on it now doesn't it?

Ever heard the phrase, "if you cant say something nice, don't say anything at all?" I am asking that if you do not want to help with the OP request, that rather than calling in the gestapo to attack a member, you just move along without any comment at all. Please carry on if you have something productive to add to the thread, but as I see it, you are only here to create drama. Thanks. Remember, as a community we are here to help first and foremost. I could see doing it to someone who has been around forever and knew better in jest, but it is easy to see if you read the thread that the OP is learning as we speak to him/her.

From my experience, gently telling to stop BIOS flashing does not work.

Literally bullying them not to flash BIOS is for their own good even if it sounds not right. In a way, I am trying to assist and save their wallet. It is, then, falls onto the user to decide whether further journey into flashing BIOS is worth it.

I don't stop with people flashing their gpu if it's for redundant gpu. But playing primary GPU BIOS can bring huge headaches. You clearly see it from a different perspective which I do not agree with.

If you wish me to shut up, then so be it.
