hi, i wanted to update my bios of my z77a-gd55 but im a bit nervous cuz for the last 4 months i've had 4 different motherboards which includes the z77. I first had a p67a-gd65 b3 which died a sad death:ohwell: after a bios flash via live update 5. so i RMA the board and bought myself a p8h77-v le for backup, then i got the z68a-gd80 b3 from RMA which died to with LIVE UPDATE 5 grrr:banghead: MSI makes great Hardware but their software sucks A**... so i've learned my lesson im not gonna update again with live update 5... and so i got this z77a-gd55, which is a nice step up, it originally cost 30 euros more then the z68 but the retailer guy felt really bad that i had to RMA 2 MSI boards in 4 months, so i got the z77-gd55 for free.
My Bios version is 1.1 and on the msi website 1.9.
First i want to ask can i safely update to latest version? and will my 2600k still work?. cuz the last update was via live update 5 and then in dos, it said bios update succesfull both ME and backup bios, and it still died after reboot...
And can i use the M-flash option in the bios to safely flash the bios from usb stick ?.

Sorry for the long story, but tpu users who don't know about LU 5 should know about this and if im not mistaking there is no sticky for that topic.. maybe someone can make a post about updating MSI boards alternate ways.

Thanks in advance guys :toast:

My first thought is do you really want to update the bios? Does it run okay with stock bios version?

well i think it does need an update, cuz i need way more voltage on vcore en i/o voltage then i used to need with the z68 or the p67 which have basicly the same chipset maybe slightly newer and the dram voltage is locked at 1.58 which is weird cuz imy 4x4gb corsair xms3 is rated @ 1.5v @ stock and changing it to 1.5v manually doesnt help either cuz it keeps resetting back to 1.58.
And when im in the bios it sometimes freezes, even on Default settings, need to flip the switch on the psu to reboot... and i see multiple updates on the msi website that say "improved memory compatibility" so hence i want to update my bios, but im truly scared cuz i lend my backup mobo the p8h77v-le to a mate :(
