I haven't had this build long it was a "temp" build and I always get the urge to upgrade. Now, for a budget build its not too shabby at all!! but I am thinking of upgrading.
1st things 1st I am getting another matched stick of 2gb ddr (for anyone who cares its a single 2gb ddr3 stick of geil value 1333 ram with a rather nice brushed alu h/s
) This is a definate.
I really wanted my 550 BE to unlock to a x4 but alas she will only unlock to a x3 though I have her chugging along at a modest 3.7ghz (18x and 210bus, 1.4v) I have tried all sorts and cant get the fourth core stable for love nor money. Buying an x4 is going to cost me around £120 at the least though I can get another 550 BE that is "guaranteed" to unlock to a x4 for £90, I figure I can sell my 550 for £60-£70 and this option won't cost me a lot, though I am in essence buying a cpu I already have, thoughts?
So with those 2 upgrades in mind I would have a nice x4 and 4gb ddr3 and the rest of my specs.
Next I am thinking of grabbing another wd5000aaks and setting them up in raid0
And finally I was thinking of getting a "quieter" cpu cooler, so I guess I am just looking for thoughts on my proposed upgrades, I am not going to upgrade my psu as even with the upgrades planned it is still a low power rig and I would rather build the rest of the system up before I look at upgrading psu, perhaps another 5770 down the line, then I will look into a new one but I know this will power this rig all day long with no fuss
