So due to unforseen circumstances I've been out for a few month (again, I don't like it :banghead:.) However on the return of having the internet and the likes of... I'm thinking it's got be time something got upgraded in my rig, I mean... Look at my system specs... Enough said really.

Question is I am pretty stuck on what to upgrade, I'd like a lot of new things but it is just not possible, the budget... Well there isn't really one but for the needs of asking what to upgrade I think it's very wise that I do set one so you guy's can have a ponder and let me know your suggestions.

Here's what I thought of so far...

Water cooling kit.
Case.
Case fans.
Graphics card.
SSD.

But I just don't want to splash that much out on my rig all at once - The missus wouldn't like it and neither would my pocket. I don't really need any of the above, they are just thing's that I'd like if I could, so I'm asking on which should come first I guess.

Budget £300 maybe some more if the deal is good?

so you have this much is what your saying if that is the pound

300 British pounds sterling = 483.7200 US dollars

The Cooling of that case seems to be sufficient

I Guess with a WC you intend on overclocking the CPU, or graphics? Overtime WC is costly especially when you spring a leak.

Suppose I do have that many Dollars, yes :). I can't grumble with this case whatsoever, it's a fantastic case for looks and cooling (it doesn't have a side window though) but in my opinion it's looking a little tired and boring, I need new fans for the case that's for sure as a couple of them are quite whiney. I agree on the water cooling it could get costly - that is the only thing swaying me towards a closed water loop (All In One) but then I also think why not just go high end air if I was considering an AIO... you see I'm stuck and the more I think the more I get stuck :banghead:

i can only guess you keep your system dust free, because thats the only thing that really makes fans noisy- less the lubricant is finally burning up.

Also just remember a closed water loop would leave other components to heatup. so Fans are still needed in the case.

Get yourself a new GTX 660, and you should be able to pickup a 120gb SSD for a good price right now too. Out of your options, I think this would make the most impact. :)

Yeah, but for 20 or 30 bucks more, I'd take the overall 15% better performance. Tough call really.

Ok so I'd probably get 10 - 15% better performance from the GTX660 over the 7950 but on the other hand would I generally see a bigger performance gain from using the 7950 with the GTX460 I currently have as a physx card on games that will use physx?

I know there still isn't too many games using it at the moment but it is on the increase. :)

There never will be alot of games that support it. I mean come on, physX has been out for years, and it hasn't caught on yet.

Ok so to say I went with the 660 - I reckon I'd be stuck with my 460 as I don't really want to use a dedicated physx card if im upgrading to a card that can cope just fine with it + can never seem to sell my gear. :(

So far I'm set on an SSD - thinking OCZ Agility 3 as can be picked up for £65 at the moment.

Better for the price? That was the best for the price I could find, my cousin has one too and he's more than happy with it - I don't see the Vortex 4 as being worth the extra £20 - £25.

So besides the SSD, I was thinking something like this...

Can you help me find a better overall deal? :)

Hi

The case and ssd come in at 153.79 from ebuyer.com with free delivery saving 36.19

the other bits would still need to be sourced from another supplier, however the delivery cost should be less due to the weight

I got £162 from ebuyer? Still it's cheaper! I think I may do what you said though and order the fans from overclocks to save on shipping.

Fair enough, it may slow down a lot over time, petrhaps read some reviews , just a suggestion.
