My H100i is showing signs of ageing; the rubber tubes are beginning to show tiny dry splits around the sleeve joints at the radiator and CPU ends. Although it works perfectly and I've never had reason to complain and it's quiet too, I'd like to replace it.
My CM Storm Trooper will take 240 and 280 models, the latter supposedly being quieter, but I can't help thinking that Corsair is now getting a little expensive.

I want RGB on the CPU block to match my Asus Crosshair mobo/GPU lighting, but I'm not bothered about RGB fans, since I don't see them anyway, but everything must be very quiet.
It has to be AM4 and with the ability to control fans speeds, as in my current Corsair Link set up.
My price range would be less than £100 (GBP). Which models offer quality and value for money after Corsair?
Many thanks.

A $45 Scythe Fuma performs better thermally and is much quieter.
https://tpucdn.com/reviews/Scythe/Fuma/images/temp_oc_aida64.png

If ya thinking of the H100i pro ($110), I'd recommend the Swiftech H240 X3 (46 dbA) ... thermally comparable to the H100i pro (53 dbA)but way way better noise wise. The H100i pro is 63% louder.

https://tpucdn.com/reviews/Swiftech/Swiftech_H240X3_Drive_AIO/images/fan_noise_100.png

In addition ... the Swiftech ...

...has a reservoir
... no mixed metals, all copper
... is expandable, can add GFX card, MoBo cooling
... pump flow 10x greater
... any component can be replaced
... can use colored coolants
... can replace coolant (optional)

Why I don't recommend AIOs w/ mixed metals
https://martinsliquidlab.wordpress.com/2012/01/24/corrosion-explored/

On the downside, availability in UK is limited and the EK made equivalents are expensive.

However the H100i (old version) was 103 pounds on amazon UK

I think your best bet is gonna be the Alphacool Eisbaer LT 240 from a quality of construction standpoint for the loop itself but not thrilled with the fans, radiator thickness ... and you want RGB.

You can't compare AIO's on 100% fan/pump noise directly.

H100i Pro can be loud, if you run fans and pump at 100%, in reality, you won't be doing that. I have a H100i Pro cooling my i9-9900K at 5.2 GHz (AVX -2) and temps during burn in is 85C with fans on balanced preset and pump on quiet. On Extreme preset for all, as in full RPMs on pump and fans, it's 82C. These temps are avg after 1 hour of 100% load.

So, waaay more noise for 3C - I don't think so ;) I can barely hear it on balanced/quiet. In idle it's as quiet as my Noctua NH-D15. During burnin, I think H100i Pro is slightly more silent.

Read this review: https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/corsair_h100i_pro_review,1.html

On balanced, It beats Noctua NH-D15 on noise and temps: https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/corsair_h100i_pro_review,11.html
"It offers what your CPU needs, good performance whilst offering terrific acoustics and nice looks. "

I got mine for free and didn't expect much tbh, but it's actually very capable and performance vs noiselevels surprised me. I thought it would be way louder than my Noctua NH-D15.

Not to despute your claims about corrosion with AIOs, i think you put up a good argument and it is something im also worried about as my AIO has been running for about 6 years also. but here is a more recent video someone did. I think the AIO in question was about 5 years old if not even longer.

They only cut open a Corsair unit though so I dont know if other brands are that good with their anti-corrosion fluids and additives in their AIOs. I think one important fact to take away is that ASETEK make a whole lot of AIOs for every PC cooling or case brand under the sun. so Hopefully you get the same level of quality all around as far as rebadged products are concerned.

Normally, I don't like to see people destroying things, but at least his little project there proved at at least some units with mixed metals aren't so bad.

The H100i arrived and I added a 2 x 8Gb DDR4 kit from my writing funds, since it's so much cheaper here than in Argentina. (I'm back home visiting my new grandson)
That will bring me up to 32Gb and the new cooling kit, so I'm okay with that for the foreseeable future.

Well you have to consider the source .... always considered jay's efforts amateurish, especially in regards to water cooling, .... but the day he drilled thru his motherboard to mount an air cooler, cutting thru the boards circuit traces and destroying a very expensive board, I stopped considering anything he does as worthwhile watching.

You also have to consider this:

https://martinsliquidlab.wordpress.com/2013/03/13/corsair-hydro-series-h100i-aio-cpu-cooler/
https://martinsliquidlab.wordpress.com/2013/01/27/swiftech-h220-prefilled-2x120mm-water-cooling-kit/
https://martinsliquidlab.wordpress.com/2013/03/12/swiftech-h220-vs-corsair-h100i-noise-testing/

Go thru the detailed review look at the pump, rad and block construction and pay particular attention to the 0.11 gpm flow rate on the H100i versus the Swiftech which is 7-8 times that. Look and the relative parts quality ... then look at the noise testing. Once it passes 60% CPU load, I'd be looking for 30 foot long KB, Mouse and Monitor cables as I'd have to put the box in another room.

100% load, 46.5 dbA on Swiftech (55% load, hits 46.5 dbA on Corsair)
100% load, 60.1 dbA on Corsair ... that's 2.6 times louder and the tone is far more annoying

With Swiftech or EK, you can add MoBo block and even twin GPU blocks w/o concern, the Corsair is far to weak and can't even move enough water with just the CPU Block.

With respect - My response to you was about corrosion in mixed metal AIOs. Not about how loud they are or how fast the flow rate is. As 'Amateurish' as he might be. he still destroyed a perfectly functional AIO in front of the camera to find out what had happened to the liquid and the radiator inside. I cant remember if he dismantled the CPU block though.

If noise is an issue then there are always ways to get around it. Even if the noise is coming from the pump. There's always a way around it - The fix might just cost you a little more.

To be honest when the fans are set to minimum I barely notice any noise on my existing H100i. The case fans are more noticeable, so I'll probably change those soon.

Good choice man! I retired my h115i extreme when I grabbed my 9900k and replaced it with h150i. Also really quiet at idle/gaming with 6 fans on it in push/pull. I really dig the new platinum aio other than their prices. I've used 4 different corsair aio and one has never failed me... The h115i is now cooling a 2600X.

I am also sporting an H100i for the time being. I think after this i'm going back to a custom loop. It's a shellshock to the wallet your first time but after that it's not so bad since you have most of what you need and usually only need to buy a couple things to get back up and running.

I fitted the H100i Platinum yesterday and I'm delighted with the results.
It's much quieter than the old H100i and all I can hear now is the humming of the spinners, which I'll have to address now because the noise comes and goes like a ghost train.
The lighting effects are really cool, especially when combined with Asus Aura. The ultimate in PC bling!
I've also added the 16Gb of memory, taking me to 32Gb. Have I noticed a difference? Not really just yet, so it may be a placebo effect with bragging rights.
One thing with fitting the new AIO though: the lugs on the AM4 mounting bracket are questionable in my opinion, IE, not enough lug so to speak.
When I was doing the final tightening of the thumb screws, one of the square metal retainers flew off the lug with what sounded like a crack and for a moment I thought the lug had actually snapped off.
It was one of those *&%$ sweary moments, I can tell you. Anyway, luckily no damage was done, so I reseated both retainers, ensuring they were occupying as much damned lug as possible, especially since the lugs have barely any overhang, so to speak.
I stuck with the original thermal paste and idle temps are good at 30c after settling down and max to no more than 50c when gaming.

Awaiting assembly

Is that the only way to mount it with the lugs? I prefer the plate with the 4 screw mounts

The loop over the lug looks like it should be soldered shut, now it is open and a weak point, which may eventually loosen.

The loop over the lug looks like it should be soldered shut, now it is open and a weak point, which may eventually loosen.
The loop is fine and it's the same system I've had for over five years and it absolutely won't come open. It's the plastic lug I'm referring to, but I'm confident that the loops are now well seated.

I've now transplanted the old H100i into my daily workhorse machine and that was a fun job, which I was happy to have lasted for hours.
It previously had a CM V6 which has given me sterling service, especially since I work in the garage where temps can get up to 39c in the summer.
Luckily I still had the AM3+ mounting bracket and the H100i fitted nicely into the NZXT Phantom, no problems. I'm not sure how much life it's got left, but it seems to be working just fine, for now.

I hate the thumbscrew lug mounting . The h115 extreme thankfully came with a real mounting kit. I've done a couple ryzen systems with the H60i never cared for the lugs but they seem like they will hold the pump in place just fine. I'm not sure why they went with the lug vs an actual bracket with the newer kits. I will probably use the same platinum h100i you got for ryzen 3000 in the summer.

I lifted the pump again as I wasn't happy with how I had mounted it and while I was at it, removed the stock Corsair paste and put some Arctic Silver on instead. It's actually made quite a difference, with slightly lower temps.
Now I can see why most people do that.

The original corsair paste mount back when I had an H100i in 2013 was better than my subsequent Arctic Silver 5 remount attempts, I think it was screen printed shin etsu X23. Still, nice to see AS5 performing well, I use it on all my hardware and it is a great paste.
